Designer Challenge Day 1 18-2018

It's Gracie here this week for a bit of fun!  Designers with one challenge from the same envelope!  We each have pretty much the same "ingredients" to work with and it is awesome to see how differently each chooses to create a card.

Today is Day 1 and it is my choice is up:

I started with the wonky frame for lack of a better term - I'm kinda wonky myself so it fits!

Here is my card:

I received the chicken stamped image as a RAK and I really think it is cute!  As it was stamped on paper that looked like a chicken coop, I colored the chicken with Spectrum Noir markers to make the chicken stand out.  I put the chicken panel in my Misti and placed the wonky frame over it.  I stamped the "Thankful for you" sentiment in black Memento Luxe ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I mounted the chicken panel on white card stock then placed the frame with pop dots over the image.  I used maroon card stock for the card base.  This one will be in the mail soon to my bestie. ~ Gracie

Here is Sue's version:

I've learned that these designers' challenge can be a cause a bit of anxiety because there are not opportunities to make an "oopsie" as we only have one of each element. So, it is a challenge to create something that you have to make work. I'm up to that challenge.

I created a background panel using glossy cardstock and distress oxides (twisted citron, cracked pistachio, fossilized amber) and spritzed water. I cut it so that it would fit in the opening of the white panel and adhered it. Yes - I should have not adhered it just yet ... but oh well. I masked off the frame with post-it tape and stamped the sprigs, using Penny Black's Flower Sparks, on the left side. When I stamped the sprig on the right, I forgot to mask off the bottom. To cover up that oopsie, I added the sentiment on a banner using a scrap of patterned paper and a stamp from Paper Smooches' Salutations stamp set.

Sue - it's lovely!  There are no mistakes in card-making - just opportunities for embellishments!

Next up is Anna's version:

Using the frame from our envelope I covered it with Washi tape from Artminds Christmas Collection.  I printed image M369890 from the Cricut "Frozen Fever" Digital Cartridge and secured the frame over the image using pop dots.  I used the cartridge to print and cut to make the tag image M32232. ~ Anna

Sweet card, Anna!

  1. They are all great. I love the chicken Gracie. Sue, every oopsie is an opportunity and yours turned out great. Anna, that is a good idea to give the image number for the Cricut image, since it makes it easier to find, cute card.
