Color Me Friday 22-2019

Wow - already Friday? Time sure flies by. It's Sue and my week as the designer is almost over.

The theme for May is celebrating Mom and the color scheme is metallic, kraft and white. The challenge for Color Me Friday is to use this month’s color scheme. What better way to celebrate Mom than with flowers.

Here's my card

I used CTMH’s A Flowering Bunch, which I heat embossed with white embossing powder on a 2.5” x 5.5” kraft strip.  To add a bit of sparkle and metallic sheen, I added color with glitter gel pens.

Here's a close-up

For an additional metallic touch, I added thin silver strips to the kraft strip. The sentiment, from Hero Arts Happy Mother’s Day stamp set, was heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Thanks for popping by. I'll have my last card of the week tomorrow. Hope to see you then.

Inspiration Thursday 22-2019

Sue, here with another card this week.

The theme for May is celebrating Mom and the color scheme is metallic, kraft and white. For Inspiration Thursday, the challenge is to use the inspiration board to inspire the card. Here's the inspiration board.

Image may contain: one or more people

I was inspired by the lights/lanterns.

Here's my card

I used Unity’s Glowing and Beautiful stamp set. I stamped the light bulbs and sentiment with Versamark ink on kraft, applied gold embossing powder and heat set them. To add a bit of sparkle, I added Wink of Stella to the interiors of the light bulbs. I trimmed the kraft panel down slightly, so that when applied to an A2 white card base, a small white border appears.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you tomorrow when I'll have another card for you to see.

Sketch It Wednesday 22-2019

Hi! It's Sue and I'm here with a new card for you.

The theme for May is celebrating Mom and the color scheme is metallic, kraft and white. For Sketch it Wednesday, the challenge is to use this month’s sketch. When I saw this month’s sketch I became worried because things with lots of layers is not my usual style – I prefer clean and simple. However, I persevered.

Here's my card

I looked through my stash for a “doily-like” die. I don’t own one – then thought, why don’t I just use a doily. So, I did. I inked it up with ink daubers and distress inks (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, picked raspberry). I found some printed paper and cardstock with similar colors. I used My Favorite Things Die-namics Fancy Flourish die, in place of the leaves. I die-cut the tag using My Favorite Things Die-namics Tag Builder Blueprints 2 from a scrap piece of yellow cardstock. The sentiment was stamped with Hero Arts Soft Granite ink using a stamp from Hero Arts Happy Mother’s Day stamp set. I added a bit of hemp twine for the tag’s tie, in place of the ribbon and bow from the sketch.

Thanks for popping by. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Technique Tuesday 22-2019

It's Sue and I'm the designer this week. Hope you're having a good week so far. I have a new card for you.

The theme for May is celebrating Mom and the color scheme is metallic, kraft and white.  For Technique Tuesday this month, it’s designer’s choice. I chose the emboss resist technique. Here is a link to Catherine Pooler demonstrating this technique.

Here's my card

I started with Impression Obsession’s Cover-A-Card Flourishes stamp and inked it up with Versamark ink. I stamped onto an A2 card panel that I had treated with an anti-static bag. I applied white embossing powder and heat set it. I added color using Hero Arts inks (bubble gum, cornflower) and Simon Says STAMP’s Hydrangea inks. I wiped off any ink that was on the embossed areas with a clean cloth. I trimmed the panel slightly so that when adhered to an A2 cardbase, a small white border can be seen. The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap strip of pink cardstock, using Hero Arts Happy Mother’s Day stamp set and white embossing powder which was heat set.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Mistletoe Monday 22-2019

I'm back .... It's Sue and I'm the designer this week.

The theme for May is celebrating Mom and the color scheme is metallic, kraft and white. For Mistletoe Monday, the challenge is to make a Christmas/Holiday card.

Here's my card

I used the monthly color scheme for this card. I used Memory Box Pine Border Background die with silver cardstock and Memory Box Pine Border outline die with gold cardstock. I adhered them onto a kraft panel 3.5” x 3.75” and matted this panel with silver cardstock. I heat embossed with silver embossing powder the sentiment, from Hero Arts Holiday Ornaments stamp set. It's so tough to get a good photo of anything too shiny!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you can stop by tomorrow when I'll have a card for Technique Tuesday.

Sweet and Simple Sunday 22-2019

Hi! It's Sue and I'll be the designer this week here at Card A Day Challenge.

The theme for May is celebrating Mom and the color scheme is metallic, kraft and white. Sweet and Simple Sunday, the challenge is to create a clean and simple card following either the monthly theme and/or the color scheme.

Here's my card

For this card, I followed both the monthly theme and color scheme. I started with some foiled printed paper, white with gold hearts. I adhered a 5.5” x 2.75”piece to a kraft A2 card panel. I also added a thin strip of gold cardstock next to the printed paper. The sentiment was heat embossed with gold embossing powder using a stamp from Hero Arts Happy Mother’s Day stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll be back tomorrow with a new card.

Scene It Saturday 20-2019

I did an outdoor scene for today's card.

I purchased a stamp set at Mega Meet from Local King Rubber called Peaceful Neighbors.  You use these stamps by applying markers to the whole stamp and stamping on glossy paper.  After I stamped the deer and fawn, I cut out a mask and covered the images.  I used another purchase from the Meet to blend Distress Oxide inks for the background.  Life Changing Brushes by Picket Fence are truly so great to blend inks and since I bought a set of various sizes, it allowed me to do some smaller areas. I cut an opening in a Kraft card base.  I cut the trees using a die from Gina Marie and used the small brush to distress the trees with a gray ink.  I attached it to the back of the opening and decided that it needed to be stiffer, so I cut another one to back the first one.  I also cut a tree out of the middle so that you could see the deer better.

Freestyle Friday 20-2019

My freestyle card is one I did for my daughter-in-law as she graduated from college.

The girl on the kraft tag was stamped with Deco Transfer gel and then foiled with gold foil. It is hard to photograph, but looked good in person. The stamp was from Unity called Graduation Wishes.
The sentiment was from Owl Graduate.  Since she is going to be a teacher, I used a paper from a W R Memory Keepers 6 x 6 pad called Hall Pass.  I put it through a stamp die and then matted that on a matching cardstock. I am very proud of her and she will make a wonderful teacher. - Denise

Inspiration Thursday 20-2019

The inspiration board for May.

When I looked at this board, I thought of a stamp I had just received as part of the Unity March 2019 KOM called Have & Hold.  It had a stamp that look very much like the bouquet of flowers on the lower right.  I used the monthly challenge of kraft and whited when making it.

It was made by taking two large Kraft tags and heat embossing the image on the front of one tag and folding over the top. I used a white pearl embossing powder which looks almost silvery.  Since it is kraft paper, you have to use an ink that will show up.  I used chalk markers in pink, green and white to color the image.  A pigment ink would also work. I attached the two tags together with washi tape on both the outside and inside so that it would open as a card. The paper at the top of the back card along with the accent stripes wer from MME's 6 x 6 pad called Flair (also used yesterday). Some white raffia around the flap added another touch. - Denise

Sketch Wednesday 20-2019

This is the sketch we are working with this month.

Here are two card I made.

I started by heat embossing a background stamp called Lace by Unity Stamp Company in white on velum.  I cut two sections from this going around some designs and leaving two sides straight.  I really like the effect it gave.  I  used papers from two different 6 x 6 pads. One was MME's Flair and the other was Hen Hadfield's Simple Life.  I like the pads because the papers coordinate with each other. The sentiments were from other Unity sets - Succulent Salutations and It's Going to be Beautiful.  The silver swirl was in my stash and was one piece that I cut in two to use. The embellishment on the right card was a fussy cut flower from the background paper and sequins on the left.  A glittery rick-rack ribbon on one with a white raffia on the other. Both used a kraft card base.  There is a lot going on with these cards and I didn't want to cover up the lace, so I left off the banner part from the sketch.  That is what is great about the sketches, they make a great starting place that you can make your own. Have fun and try it yourself. - Denise

Technique Tuesday 20-2019

I am using a technique that I used yesterday and today.  It is a foiling method that uses Transfer Gel and rubber stamps along with transfer foil and a laminator.  There is a quick video showing how to do this by Stamp-n-Ground found here.

The background stamp is from Unity Stamp Company and designed by Brutus Monroe called Floral Tapestry.  I used Deco Foil Shattered Glass Rainbow.  I love how this looks even if I didn't get quite the coverage I hope for.  I did keep a bowl of water along with a washcloth handy to put the rubber stamp on while I did the Christmas backgrounds to make it easier to clean them all up later. The sentiment is from Unity July 2017 KOM and I die cut around the sentiment. I will probably do some more foiling, especially using the shattered glass foil. - Denise

Mistletoe Monday 20-2019

I have a couple of Christmas cards today.

I used a foiling technique to make both the background and sentiment using Deco Foil Transfer Gel and Minc Green & Gold Reactive Foil. I will go more into detail about this technique tomorrow. I used a background stamp by Unity Stamp Company and designed by Brutus Monroe called Freshly Cut.  The sentiments were from a kit called Cherry Christmas. - Denise

Sweet & Simple Sunday 20-2019

Hi, Denise here for the week.  The month of May will feature Kraft, white and metallic colors.

Sundays are for simple cards and I have four today.

I used a format I saw on a Facebook group of a tone on tone card with just a simple sentiment.  On the first card, I used an Archival Ink called Sepai, but I decided it looked too dark for the effect I wanted, so I went to a Distress Oxide color of Vintage Photo.  I used that for the other two images and while they don't photograph as well, they look better in person.  All the stamps are from Unity and they are Older, but Wiser; Slowly Turning Class; Go Forward.  I like the overall effect and while it is hard for me to a plain and simple card, I like these - Denise

Scene It Saturday 19-2019

Happy Saturday!  Time to make a scene...

Here is my card:

I have a friend who sent me some beautiful die cuts and included a lovely acetate frame.  I used the frame as my "scene" today.  I started the card by stamping "Wonderful" on a grey and white patterned card stock with clear Versamark ink using heat set silver embossing powder.  I placed the frame on the card stock using velum tape.  I cut a light green card stock strip and stamped "You Are So" using black Memento ink.  I attached the strip to another strip of mirror silver card stock and attached it to the panel with foam tape.  I added a butterfly die cut to the strip with foam dots.  I used craft brown card stock as my card base.

I had so much fun making cards for you this week and hope you have had fun joining along.  I wish you all a very Happy Mothers' Day and I will see you next month!  ~  Gracie

Freestyle Friday 19-2019

Happy Friday!  Your work week is just about done!  Today is Freestyle Friday and I had a good time making my card today!!!

Here is my card:

I didn't do my usual A2!  I also didn't make an easel card!  Instead I chose to make a 5 x 5 inch card with some lovely vintage look card stock.  The paper is double sided and I used both sides.  The first panel is a light green card stock.  I added a second panel of the reverse of the card base.  Then I had fun!  I added a strip of lace, two strips of round pearls over the lace, a strip of pearl leaves with rhinestones below the lace, and a vintage picture mounted on the light green card stock.  I made a banner of the light green card stock and stamped the sentiment from Raison Boat with clear Versamark ink and heat set silver embossing powder.  I added it to the card then added a pink bow to the center and several silver roses.  I made an envelope to match.  I fear it will have to be mailed as a package due to weight!  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 19-2019

It's Thursday and time for a mood board!

Here is our inspiration:

And here is my card:

This was just fun!  The stamp set is from Concord & 9.  I stamped the cup, the sentiment, and the spoon with clear Versamark ink and used gold heat set embossing powder.  I then stamped the heart in the center of the cup with clear Versamark ink and used clear heat set embossing powder.  I colored the images using Spectrum Noir markers.  I placed the white panel on a blue panel of card stock then on a panel of cream color card stock.  I used craft brown card stock as my card base.  I added some blue flat back pearls as embellishment. If my mom was here she would certainly be getting this card! ~  Gracie

It's Sketch Wednesday!  Hope you are having a good week!  Our theme is Mothers and our colors are metallics, craft and white.

Here is our sketch:

And here is my card:

I started my card with paper from a graphic45 paper pad (it's so hard to let go lol).  I used stitched die cuts from Pink and Main to create the two panels and the label for the sentiment.  I used a scalloped die cut to make a doily shape.  I stamped the sentiment "Thanks To You I Grew Up Loved" from Stampin' Up on the label with clear Versamark ink and used rose gold embossing powder.  I added two gold glitter flourishes and a string of silver blue rhinestones.  I added some rose gold roses and a cream crepe ribbon.  I placed the panels on brown craft card stock for my card base.  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 19-2019

Hello and Happy Tuesday!  Today we play with a technique and this month it is Designer's Choice.  Today I chose to do Dimensional Sentiments.

Here is the link:

And here is my card:

I started my card with a die cut that is pre-colored and a gift from a fellow crafter.  I stamped the die cut and the panel using my MISTI using clear Versamark ink and silver heat set Stampabilities embossing powder.  I placed foam tape behind the die cut and adhered it to the panel lining up the stamped images.  I placed the panel on a silver glitter card stock panel and used brown craft card stock as my card base.  I went back and added the two butterflies with foam dots.  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 19-2019

Merry Ho Ho!  Time to make another holiday card!

Here is my card:

I printed a digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps on craft paper along with my sentiment.  Then I settled down in my chair for awhile and spent time relaxing coloring my image with Prismacolor pencils.  I colored his cup with a gold marker.  I fancy cut him and added him to a mirror gold card stock panel using foam tape.  I backed the sentiment with green card stock and used cardinal card stock as my card base.  I added steam rising from the cup with a fine tip marker.  If you haven't colored on craft paper it is really fun - you get such a different look.  I think he is so sweet!  ~  Gracie

Scene It Saturday 18-2019

Happy Saturday!  We are closing our week making a scene.

Here is my card:

I started today's card with a red patterned paper from my stash and trimmed it down to 3 3/4 x 5.  I cut a second panel 4 x 5 1/4.  I tied a gold ribbon around the first panel and adhered it to the second.  I die cut the park bench (from Crafter's Companion) and the "Thanks" sentiment (from Technique Tuesday) and the butterfly (from Sizzix) using metallic gold card stock.  I adhered the bench and the sentiment with Art Glitter Glue and the butterfly with foam tape.  I then added the six mottled pink mulberry roses.

I had fun making cards for women this week (sadly I no longer have my mother).  And I will be back with you next week to make more!  Happy Cardmaking!  ~  Gracie

Here is my card:

I started my card simple orange and white patterned paper in my stash (graphic45) and stamped my sentiment directly on the patterned paper with clear Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold Stampin' Up embossing powder.  The sentiment is from Some More Fun.  I added a gold glitter flourish.  I attached the panel to another panel of mirror gold card stock with foam tape and tied a gold ribbon around the panel.  I added two small birds from a Martha Stewart sticker pack using foam tape.  I made a card base from orange card stock.  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 18-2019

It's Inspiration Thursday and time for a new mood board for inspiration!

And here is my card:

I chose a stamp set with a woman with an umbrella (Stampin' Up) and a sentiment from another set (Raison Boat).  I stamped on white card stock with clear Versamark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I played with my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks (Faded Jeans and Antique Linen) blended across the white panel.  After blending I spritzed with water and set the panel aside to dry.  After drying I added color to the woman with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I added five brown mulberry roses for accent.  I placed the panel on another panel of metallic gold card stock and used craft card stock to make the card base.  Distress oxide inks are wonderful when you are working with color combinations!  ~  Gracie

Sketch It Wednesday 18-2019

Happy May Day Wednesday!  Time to play with a sketch!

And here is my version:

I started today's card by searching through my 6 x 6 papers to find some that coordinated.  I found three really pretty patterned reds.  I die cut the first two panels using rectangular stitch dies from Pink and Main.  I added a white doily die cut that is a Silhouette file.  I die cut the arrow tag and a smaller rectangle from the Pink and Main set.  I stamped my sentiment from Raison Boat on the small rectangle using Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe ink.  I tied a black satin ribbon around the panels and doily and tied a small bow.  I adhered the arrow tag and attached the sentiment tag using foam tape.  I die cut two flourishes using gold card stock and adhered them with Art Glitter glue.  As an afterthought I went back and added the butterfly using foam tape and flower stamens as antennae.  It's a little busy but I like it!  ~  Gracie
