Goodbye 2015

We've all greatly enjoyed creating cards for you in 2015.

As the holidays approach and life gets hectic we will be taking time off to
be with family and friends and to celebrate this amazing season of celebration.

Don't fear, we'll be back in 2016, with lots more challenges and cards to share.

We've played with the schedule and how we will be presenting cards
to you in January and we'd love you feedback.

We love comments on the cards and challenges we present and we'd love to know
what inspires you.  So please leave us a comment on this post and tell us which challenges were easy for you and which were hard and why?

Tell us what you'd like to see in the future.

Anna, Denise, Gracie and Kathy

PS: Would you like to be a part of the Card A Day Challenge Blog Design Team?
We are looking for DT members and we'd love to have you join us.

Anything Goes Friday

I thought today we'd share a post from Theresa's blog and her series CASE-ing Christmas.
You can read the remaining posts in this series on Theresa's blog.

DAY 2   DAY 3  DAY 4   DAY 5

Now on with the post.

It's been a great week at StampNation!
Catherine and the Design Team have been presenting a daily class to all the members called, C.A.S.E-ing Christmas.

Click on the image for more details on joining StampNation.

It has been really fun seeing all the different takes on the same ideas.

I love how different minds think alike in some ways and so far from each other too.

Here are the cards from day 1:

This is Catherine's card. Gorgeous, right? I love the non-traditional colors.

And here is my case of the her card.
I used Ranger Distress Inks and Pearl Ex powder, the Happy Holidays die and snowflake stamps
from the Stamp Of Approval Holiday Magic box.
Catherine used diecut snowflakes and a stamped greeting. I reversed those.
She used watercolors to create the corner color and I used ink blending.

Remember when you C.A.S.E. to change at least 3 things.
You will then be creating a new design and something all your own.

Technique Thursday

Today's challenge is to use your embossing folders in a different way.

I made several cards based on this video by Jennifer McGuire Ink

I used Ranger Distress Inks for all the backgrounds and Perfect Pearls or
Pearl EX Powders to create the faux metal effect.
I used a variety of Darice and Sizzix embossing folders.

Hope you like them.  I highly recommend giving this technique a try.
It is lots of fun and produces an awesome card.

Wild Wild Wednesday

So I thought today we'd do a throw back post.
This is a post of cards I did on my personal blog back in 2013.
WOW what a change a couple of years and a few hundred cards makes in
my crafting ability and style.

On with the post from July 13, 2013 and a blog hop Christmas in July:

Today's blog hop is all about Christmas cards.  I've created one specifically for the blog hop and will post that one first.  I've also created several other cards this week for a card swap that I'm participating in and guess what this month's theme was also Christmas in July.  I'll share those too.

I hope you like the cards that I've created and they will inspire you to create some fun and easy cards of your own.

I've done a little embellishing on the envelopes as well and have included them in the photos.

This is the one I created for the blog hop.  It is very simple and easy to mass produce.  I used a pre-made 4x9" card.  I ran the card twice through the Big Kick using an embossing folder.   I created a small
slip in the fold to thread the ribbon through where the seam of the two embossingfolders meet.  I threaded the ribbon through and glued it.  I created the snowflakeusing the Christmas cartridge.  I stamped it with the word Joy from the Wonderland Wishes stamp set by Raisin Boat  I ran it through my Xyron X and coated it with Martha Stewart glitter.  I attached it with  dimensional foam, added the rhinestones and it was done.  I also ran the envelope flap through the same embossing folder.
This one is created using an ebossing folder, a stamp that came with a summer set, but I thought it looked like a snowflake, the same Joy stamp and more rhinestones and ribbon.

This one I used glitter paper and embossed it.  It is gorgeous in real life!  The sparkle is amazing.  I used a  trim from the sewing section as the ribbon and used the same stamp set as above to create the tag.  The snowflake brad started out just plain white and I heated it using my heat gun and dipped it in some glittery embossing powder and heated it.

This is one of my favorites.  I used an 8x8 sheet of embossed cardstock and cut out the snowflake from the Christmas cartridge.  I used my Zig glue and MS glitter on the blue cardstock.  Popped up the white on foam tape and used my Fiskars punch on the bottom.   I used the positive and glittered it for the envelope.  Super simple but so pretty!

This one was amazingly simple but this is my very favorite one of this bunch.  I just love how it turned out.  I used an embossing folder that had branch and bird on it.  I roughed up the edge of the white cardstock with my Tonic paper distresser and inked the edges. The cardinal is a dimensional sticker

This one too is simple.  I used the ornaments embossing folder. I used my Zig pen and clear embossing powder to highlight some of the ornaments.  I then cut out the ornament (sorry I don't remember what cartridge) and used MS tinsel glitter to give it a little sparkle.

I have to say that some of these are still among my favorites.
I really love the blue snowflake one and the very simple long snowflake with the ribbon one.

Technique Tuesday

Today's challenge is to use a die to emboss.

This card was made using a metal Spellbinder Impressability as the stencil.
The ink is SU! Real Red and Forest Foliage.
I used Stickles Platinum  and Icicle to add highlights below the tulle wrap and red organza bow.

Anything Goes Friday #40

Thought I'd challenge you today to a little cute Christmas card,
but then I sort of got carried away making them.

So my challenge to you today, create just ONE cutesy Christmas or holiday card.
Bet you can't stop at just one. LOL

By the way, I'm participating in the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop.
I'd love it if you stopped by my blog and hopped along and commented.
There are some great prizes being given away.

C.A.S.E. A Card Thursday #40

Today's C.A.S.E. A Card Challenge:

I know you are thinking, it is December now,
why are we C.A.S.E.-ing a card that has leaves on it?

My answer is because I want you to look at cards differently.
I want you to see the potential in a card not just what's there.

So where can we take this card and be inspired to create something different?

1. A dark background
2. Embossed stamping
3. Vellum Sentiment

So what if we took the leaves and made them snowflakes?
What if we added a holiday greeting to the vellum?
Embossed in gold or silver instead of white?

Here are my cards (once I started, I couldn't stop LOL):

Mistletoe Monday #40

Today's the last Mistletoe Monday for 2015.

If you've been following along all year, you should 35-40 holiday cards
ready to send out. Doesn't that make you feel good?
Get them addressed and mailed out this week and feel the holiday cheer
spread like wildfire.  Whether you celebrate Christmas or not this time of year is
something special and mankind is hopefully just a tiny bit nicer to each other.

Now on with today's card.

Today's challenge is to incorporate water coloring into your holiday card.

For the top card I used Ranger Distress inks and used a dip and spritz watercolor technique.
For the bottom card I used Gansai Tambi Watercolor Paints and spread the paint with a brush. I did add several layers of the paints, drying in between each layer.

Clean & Simple Sunday #40

Today's the last day of the Thankful Card Challenge.

What have you most been thankful for this year?

We encourage you to make a pact to spread gratefulness and kindness
throughout the year not just in the month of November.

So for 2016, make a card a week and mail it right away to someone near or far.
Whether you celebrate a birthday, another accomplishment or anniversary or
if it is a total act of random kindness, make someone's day at least once a week.
We promise it will make your day better too.

I thought I'd share these cards with you today for this challenge.
The top was created using Ranger Distress inks and spritzing the stamp with water before applying the stamp to the paper.

The second card was created using Versa Mark ink and Perfect Pearls and Pearl Ex powders.
Two clean and simple cards that can be created in no time.

Anything Goes Friday #39

Have you participated in the Share Handmade Kindness Campaign yet?

If not why?
Today's challenge, to share kindness in some way.

Take a few minutes today to create a card or something and
share it with someone you love or even better someone you don't even know.

I encourage you to get out and spread kindness to everyone you meet today.

Black Friday tends to bring out the worst in a lot of people so today, buy someone's coffee or
pay for their gas or let them cut in front of you in line.

Even the smallest gestures will make this world a better place.

Wishing you the best of days and kindness.

Color Challenge Tuesday #39

Today's Color Challenge

Here's my card:

It's some Hobby Lobby paper, with Black and Tan ribbon.
The paper has variegated shades of yellow in the design,
so I picked that up in the center circle as well.
