Sketch Wednesday 31-2019

Hello again and welcome to Sketch Wednesday!  Here is today's sketch:

And here is my card:

I started my card with a cute digital stamp called "School Is A Roar" but I can't remember which site I purchased it from!  I printed him on white card stock and colored him with Prismacolor pencils.  I fussy cut him.  I added two patterned papers to the card front (yellow and black).  I cut a strip of black card stock to resemble the sketch.  The "R U READY?" was printed on my computer and backed with black card stock and attached with foam tape.  He will have to go to one of the granddaughters with glasses  :)  Have fun playing with the sketch!!  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 31-2019

Hello again and welcome to Technique Tuesday!  Today we are playing with stencils and ink!  Here is the link to a Jennifer McGuire YouTube video:

And here is my card:

I had a blast playing with this technique!  Any excuse to get out the inks is a good excuse!  I die cut an apple using my Silhouette Cameo and lightly adhered it to the center of my white card stock panel.  I sponged Candy Apple and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide ink around the apple somewhat lightly.  I followed with a second stencil and again sponged the same inks.  It seemed too dark so I very lightly spritzed it with water and waited for it to dry before removing the apple.  I stamped the sentiment from Technique Tuesday in the center of a narrow white strip and mounted the strip on black card stock.  I positioned it on the panel with foam tape.  I placed the panel on red card stock (claiming temporary memory lapse - should have been yellow!)  I used a white card base.  Perfect for a teacher!  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 31-2019

Hello again and welcome to Mistletoe Monday!  Today the challenge is a holiday card and our colors are yellow, black and white.

Here is my card:

I started my card today with a digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps "Light Me Up 2".  I printed the image on white card stock and colored it with Prismacolor pencils.  I found some black and white hound's tooth print paper from Some Odd Girl in my stash.  I cut 2 strips of white card stock and placed it on the panel to try to resemble a Christmas package.  I fussy cut the image and added it with Art Glitter Glue to the top so he would look as if hanging from the Christmas tree.  I stamped the sentiment (no brand from China) with Memento ink "Love Letters" and heat set with clear embossing powder.  I attached the sentiment with foam tape.  I placed the panel on a white card stock base.  I think he looks so happy!  ~  Gracie

Sweet & Simple Sunday 31-2019

Hello everyone!  It's Gracie here this week as your designer.  Our theme this month is "Back to School" and our colors are yellow, black and white.

Here is my Sweet & Simple card:

I started my card with a digital stamp from Dearie Dolls (I hate she is no longer drawing!)  I printed the image on white Spectrum Noir card stock and colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.  I trimmed and placed the panel on red card stock then mounted it on black and whited plaid card stock.  I used red card stock as my card base.  Very simple and perfect for my granddaughter!  ~  Gracie

Stand Out Saturday 29-2019

On Saturdays this year we are doing dimensional cards such as box cards, shaker cards, etc.  I love making box cards and svgcuts.com has some wonderful ones.

This is called vintage gas pump and made a great card for my father this year.  The patterned papers are from Echo Park and called Off Road.  I had a brad for the font which was perfect in my stash.  The flat woven ribbon was also from my stash.  I printed the back on my computer and attached one of the images from the patterned paper with washi tape to cover up the punch line.  Underneath it reads "Yep, that means you are old".  I love these box cards because they make such an impression and the cut files from svgcuts.com always work perfectly along with having videos to show you how to put them together. - Denise

Color Me Friday 29-2019

Our colors this month are Red, White & Blue.

This was an experiment with heat embossing in bright white and then using Distress Inks.  The embossing resists the color (and I also rub it off) to make it stand out.  I used a red and a blue on the fireworks and then used black around the edges to make it look like night. After it dried all night, I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and heat embossed it with Bright White Embossing Powder.  The girl was stamped and colored with Spectrum Noir markers and then fussy cut and glued to the front.  All of the stamps are from the Unity stamp kit called Celebrate the New. I put ut on a black card base because it looked better than white. - Denise

Inspiration Thursday 29-2019

I love our inspiration picture for this month.

Here is my card -

Since this month was a hectic one for me with vacations (I know it is hard to sympathize, lol) I let my papers do a lot of the work for my cards.  This one started with flag paper from a Peebles stack called Americana and backed it with another print from the same pad.  I cut a simple image of an old fashioned truck from the Cricut cartridge called Heritage.  Using beige card stock with a couple of colors of brown Distress Ink and a blender gave it a vintage look. The Thank You is from an old unknown stamp that I have had quite awhile.  I like how it follows the curve of the truck. - Denise

Sketch It Wednesday 29-2019

We are working with this sketch for the month of July.

I decided this would be a good chance to use one of my many paper pads that have coordinating paper.  I chose a 4.5 x 6.5 pad called Cape Cod by The Paper Studio.  The measurements on the sketch make it very easy to cut and put together.  I used several patterns and arranged them in various groups for four different cards.

These were really easy to put together and I stamped the Thank You from a CTMH kit called Have a Happy Day.  The images on the larger circle were part of the paper which saved stamping.  All I had to do was center the image in my die before running through my Cuttlebug. I love the nautical theme. - Denise

Technique Tuesday 29-2019

The technique this month is interlocking tri-fold cards. A tutorial of how to do these can be found here.  I kept the patriotic theme and color scheme for the month.

I started with paper from the Authentique collection called Pride Collection.   I love the texture of their paper and the double sided print worked well.  The collection also has a page of cutouts that I used for both the front and inside the card.  I used some blue cardstock to cut the frame and then used the middle cutout from that to back the image on the inside.  I stamped with a Unity stamp kit called Birthday Go Round.  Stamping it in red made it stand out.  It was actually a pretty quick card to do and looked special. - Denise

Mistletoe Monday 29-2019

I didn't have a lot of time to create cards for this week due to vacations and a long holiday weekend so I turned to elements from my stash to make a quick Christmas card.

I looked through my Christmas stash to find some inspiration and found these 3-D stickers which were the perfect colors for this month.  I put silver washi tape at the top and bottom of a white card base then put the stickerson. I added a few red sequins to add a little more to it and called it done. - Denise

Sweet & Simple Sunday 29-2019

Hi, Denise here this week as our colors are red, white, and blue and the theme is patriotic.
I truly did a clean and simple card that was so quick to make.

I used a navy cardstock to make a base and used two stamps from Unity's July 2018 SMAK kit called Look Up and Get Lost.  I stamped it with Versamark and then used bright white embossing powder to heat emboss it. It was super quick to make and still looks pretty cool. - Denise

Stand Out Saturday 28-2019

Hello again and Happy Saturday!  Today we will make a card that stands out - a box, a step, a shaker, etc.  Today I decided to make an explosion box card!

Here is my card:

Oh, my!  It was fun to make but it took a while!  I started with 12 inch DSP and scored it at 4 and 8 inches along both sides.  I cut along the score line on the right side down to the fist score on each side, folded the paper over and used red line tape to make pockets on each of the four flaps.  I cut the second layer 1/2 inch shorter on each side and cut again but glued the flaps on the second layer and added contrasting paper cut 1/4 inch smaller to each flap of all the panels.  I attached the second layer to the first in the center with red line tape.  I added white roses, red metallic die cut butterflies, rhinestones and a red ribbon using a hot glue gun.  The lid is made from contrasting paper and decorated with my glue gun.  I made small tags and stamped birthday sentiments and placed them in each pocket.  I used my envelope punch board to create a slot in the pockets to easily remove the tags.  I went back and added a strip of contrasting paper to the outside of each flap.

I've had fun with red, white and blue the past two weeks!  I will be back next month!  Until then, have fun and Happy Card-Making!  ~  Gracie

Color Me Friday 28-2019

It's Friday and today we color using our colors for the month - red, white and blue!

Here is my card:

A couple of months ago a friend sent me a cute card with these cows - we live next to a dairy and have cows on our farm.  I just loved it and found the stamp set from China.  I ordered it and just received it 2 months later.  Took a while but they are just too danged cute!  I stamped the images on white card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I bent the "Happy Birthday" sentiment before stamping to curve it using my MISTI.  I stamped the second sentiment on a strip of red card stock.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers.  I trimmed the white panel into thirds and placed it on blue card stock with foam tape.  I applied the second sentiment to the lower third with foam tape.  I placed the blue panel on a white panel, then placed the panel on a red card stock base.  They look ready to party 'till the cows come home!  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 28-2019

It's Inspiration Thursday and we have a mood board!

I love this picture!!!

Here is my card:

I started the card with a stamp and die set from Tim Holtz.  This goat is just too cute.  I stamped the image, sentiment and the accessories on white card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe Ink and heat embossed with Whispers clear embossing powder.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers and sponged the images and sentiment with Antique Photo Distress Ink.  I fussy cut the accessories and glued the hat, flag and tie with Art Glitter Glue to a panel of red striped card stock from my stash. I placed the sentiment on the panel with foam tape.  I used white card stock to make a card base.  ~  Gracie

Sketch It Wednesday 28-2019

It's Wednesday!  Time to play with a sketch!  Our theme is "Patriotic" and our colors are red, white and blue!

Here is our sketch:

And here is my card:

I have two cats.  Mr. Myles is a sweet, sweet gray striped cat who loves everyone but is afraid of his shadow.  And then there is the hellion - Miracle - my crazy white cat that is the reason Mr. Myles is afraid of his shadow... unless it is thundering or there are fireworks - then Miracle is the chicken cat!  When I was trying to think of what I wanted to do with this card she was tormenting Mr. Myles until it started raining.  Soooo, I busted out the Tim Holtz Crazy Cat stamps, sentiment and the accessories.  I stamped the two cats and other images on white card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe Ink and embossed with clear Whispers embossing powder.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers.  I then used a scalloped circle to cut out both cats.  I fussy cut the hat, the bow tie and flag and adhered them to the cats with Art Glitter Glue.  I cut two rectangles from blue and red glitter card stock and adhered it to a blue card stock base.  It just looked too plain so I went back and die cut a frame and placed over the glitter card stock.  I then added the circles with Art Glitter Glue.  I trimmed the sentiment and placed it on red glitter card stock and adhered it to the card with foam tape.  Fun!  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 28-2019

It's Tuesday!  Time to work with a new technique!  Today we have a video from Jennifer McGuire for inspiration:

And here is my card:

This card was just fun to make!  I love Jennifer McGuire's videos!  I started the card with a generic stamp set from China.  I stamped the image and "Congratulations" on white card stock and the "On Your Anniversary" on light blue card stock using Red Memento ink.  I used a stitched circle die to die cut the image and colored the rose with Spectrum Noir markers.  I die cut a scalloped edge circle and attached the image with Art Glitter Glue.  I created a belly band with vellum and attached the circle with red line tape. placed the light blue panel on a white panel then trimmed red triangles and attached to the back of the panel with red line tape and used my bone folder to fold the triangles over the sentiment on the panel.  I placed the "Congratulations" sentiment on a slightly darker blue card stock and attached it to the lower part of the panel with foam tape.  I added a few small clear rhinestones.  I attached the panel to a white card stock base and applied the belly band.  I think it makes a really elegant card!  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 28-2019

It's Monday!!!  Time to work on those holiday cards!!!  Our colors are red, white and blue.

Here is my card:

I started today's card by die cutting snowflakes in different shades of blue.  I also dug out a die cut sentiment I received in a swap that is cut using mirror silver card stock.  I placed everything on the panel then glued everything down with Art Glitter Glue.  I added clear rhinestones (gotta love some bling).  I placed the panel on a bright red printed card stock then placed it on a white card stock base.  I added a light blue ribbon.  Festive!  ~  Gracie

Sweet & Simple Sunday 28-2019

Hello again and Happy Sunday!  It's Gracie here this week as your designer.  Our theme for July is "Patriotic" and our colors are red, white and blue!  We are starting the week off with a sweet and simple card.  My grandson has graduated from boarding school and has received a full scholarship to Mississippi State University!  Problem is - we are an Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) family!  But we can endure four years of those loud annoying cowbells for the sake of his education.  But I just can't do the maroon and white!  Ole miss is red, white and blue!  Today I started making cards to send happies to Elliott - but you guessed it - they are red, white and blue!

Here are my Sweet & Simple Cards (started on one - just kept going!):

I started the cards with a stamp set from Tim Holtz.  I stamped the images on white card stock with Red Memento ink.  I added color with Spectrum Noir markers.  I die cut the "just a note" sentiment with white card stock and attached them to strips of blue card stock with Art Glitter Glue.  I placed the panels on red card stock bases then added the sentiment strips with foam tape.  My grandson will understand the colors immediately lol! I will be mailing them to him with gift cards for Jimmy Johns to be sure he is eating something besides a salad! ~ Gracie

Stand Out Saturday 27-2019

Hello and Happy Saturday!  Hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend!  Today we are making a Stand Out card - can be a step card, box card, etc.  I chose to make a Patriotic Box Card!

Here is my card:

I made my card to fit in an A2 envelope!  I went through my Scraprack and found some fun Jolees' Patriotic stickers.  After creating the box (white card stock trimmed to 5 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches and scored at 1/2 in 2 in, 4 in and 6 in then turned sideways and scored at 2 3/4 inches).  I used red lined tape to attach the 1/2 inch flap to the front edge to make the box.  I used my scissors to trim down from the top to the score line to create the flaps and pressed them down with my bone folder.  I trimmed red glitter card stock to fit within each rectangle and adhered with adhesive.  I created the flaps for the inside with white card stock and attached the Jolees' stickers.  I die cut the "Celebrate sentiment and stars from blue and silver glitter card stock and ran them through the xyron sticker maker to apply the adhesive.  I finished it off with a small blue ribbon tied around the front flap and secured with a mini glue dot!  God bless America!!!  Have fun trying new (or even old like this box card) techniques to make your cards!  I will see you next week!  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 27-2019

Hello again and Happy Thursday! Today we will use a mood board for inspiration.

Happy Independence Day!!!!  I love this picture!  So vintage patriotic!  Here is my card:

This card started with the hat stamped image I received in a swap.  It was stamped with red ink on white card stock.  I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers then fussy cut it and sponged the edges with Antique Photo Distress ink.  I went through my stash in my Scraprack and found the constitution which is vellum.  I adhered it to white card stock and fussy cut it and sponged the edges also.  I die cut a circle from mirror gold card stock and glued the hat and constitution down on a bright blue panel.  I added the white sequin stars and some small clear rhinestones.  I stamped the sentiment from Tim Holtz using clear Versamark ink and heat embossed with gold Stampin' Up embossing powder.  I tied the red and white ribbon around the panel then popped the sentiment on using foam tape.  I placed the blue panel on a red panel then used white card stock for the card base.  It's pretty patriotic!  ~  Gracie

Sketch It Wednesday 27-2019

It's Wednesday!  Today we have a sketch!  We are still using a Patriotic theme and our colors are red, white and blue.

Here is the sketch for today:

And here is my card:

I really like sketches.  They give me a good starting point!  I just got this stamp set from China.  I stamped the images on white card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and heat embossed with Whispers clear embossing powder.  I die cut the images with a generic scalloped circle set.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers.  I stamped the second sentiment on blue card stock and trimmed it out and placed it on white card stock.  I went through my stash and found two red and white prints.  I placed them on a light blue panel.  I adhered the scalloped circles and the sentiment with foam tape.  I used red card stock to make the card base.  He looks like a happy pig to me!  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 27-2019

Hello again and Happy Tuesday!  Today we are going to use a technique to make a card.

Here is the link:

and here is my card:

I started my card with a stamp set from Technique Tuesday.  I stamped the image on white card stock with Navy Memento ink.  I die cut it into a circle and paced it on a red card stock circle, then a white card stock circle.  I then die cut a scalloped circle the inner circle fits into.  I made a card base using white card stock and created a center fold.  I trimmed a pretty blue patterned paper from my stash and placed it on both sides of the card front.  I adhered the solid circle on the right front and the open scalloped circle on the left.  I added a strip of red card stock to each side.  I used the same Navy Memento ink to stamp the sentiment on the blue panel for the inside of the card.  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 27-2019

It's Monday and time to get your Merry Christmas on!  With the year half gone it will be here before you know it!

Here is my card:

I started my card with a stamp from Little Darlings and a sentiment from an unknown source (it's out of it's package).  I stamped the images on white card stock using Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe ink and heat embossed with Whispers clear embossing powder.  I colored the image using Spectrum Noir markers.  I trimmed the panel down and placed it on another panel of red card stock.  I made an easel card base from white card stock and attached the panel to the front.  I placed a strip of red card stock on the inside then trimmed the sentiment and placed it on red card stock and attached it to the card with foam tape.  I went back and added a little shimmer to the snow flakes and tea set with clear Wink of Stella.  Easy peasy!  ~  Gracie
