Color Challenge Tuesday #9

Today's challenge is to do a card that makes you think spring.  I used pinks and oranges and yellows and of course couldn't leave off the flowers if we are thinking spring. LOL

I used Ranger Distress Inks on Ranger Watercolor Paper to create this background and used a Sizzix die set for the Hello which is inlaid.  See Thursday's post for more details on how to do this. ;)

I used a few pearl dots for the centers of the flowers.

The card is soft and feminine and springy.

Clean & Simple Sunday #9

Today's card is one that I received from my secret sister.  It is clean and simple and oh so pretty.
She used diecut butterflies and a simply inked sentiment, cut the front of the card base smaller and added ribbon and a little lace trim.

The card is simple but stunning and so sweet and feminine.

So your challenge today is to create a clean and simple feminine card.

Anything Goes Friday #8

Today's challenge is to create an unexpected birthday card.
When you see the flowers in this card you don't think birthday, but that's what it is a birthday card for my Great-Aunt Erma's 94th birthday this weekend.

Thursday Technique #8

Today's card utilizes several techniques: emboss resist, masking and direct to paper inking.

But the technique I'm challenging you to try is the direct to paper.  There are lots of cool looks that you can achieve using this method.  Rain, wood, brick...just to name a few.

Check out YouTube and you'll find lots of great tutorials.

Card Sketch Wednesday #8

Today's sketch comes from Clean & Simple Stamping.

I didn't use a strip of paper as the sketch shows but a diecut sentiment instead. It is not straight but when working with vellum you get what you get.  I cut out the sentiment using my Cricut and the Easter cartridge, then colored the vellum with my Copic markers.  (NOTE to self: color vellum before cutting for an easier time)

Color Challenge Tuesday #8

I needed something bright and springy today, so this color challenge seems to fill the need.

Although my colors aren't an exact match to the challenge they are what I had in my Copic stash that matched the closest.

This image was a free coloring page that I found online, scaled to size and printed on heavy-weight cardstock.

I used Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen on the bunny and the bow.  I used Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (Clear) on the eggs.

Mistletoe Monday #8

Today's challenge is to create a card that uses Gold.

Doesn't matter if it is gold embossing or gold foil or gold paper, just create a holiday card that features gold in some way.

I used Delicata Gold Ink and clear embossing powder for the the greeting and the sentiment on the inside.

I used that same gold ink on a q-tip to lightly brush over the bow to give it some shimmer.

The image is a free coloring page I found online and shrank to size and printed out.  It was colored with Copic markers.

Today's clean and simple card is a one layer, simple image colored with Ranger Distress Markers and a sentiment.

Nothing fancy but heartfelt as all clean and simple cards should be.

Anything Goes Friday #7

This card was sent to me from a pen pal.  Isn't it gorgeous? I love the colors and all the layering.
So today's challenge is to create a spring or Easter card that has multiple layers to it.

Card Sketch Wednesday #7

Today's sketch comes to us from MFT.  It is a fairly simple card sketch, but there is so much you can do with it.

Sorry & Mistletoe Monday #7

It was a very busy weekend and I didn't get any cards made for this week, so I apologize that there was no post yesterday.

Today's Mistletoe Monday is to create a card with a critter on it.

I created this super cute penguin using my Cricut and the Create a Critter cartridge. I cut and layered him and then added Mod Podge Dimensional Magic for the glossy finish.

So find your critter stamps or diecuts and make a card.

Color Challenge Tuesday #7

Today's color challenge is to step outside your comfort zone and choose a color that you aren't crazy about.

I'm not a purple kind of girl. I have a very tiny selection of purple (only what came with packs) paper in my stash.  So these cards were created with a background that was sent to me by a friend and the second one uses a diecut from the background and a ink and stencil background.

So what color doesn't do it for you?  Challenge yourself to create a few cards using that color.

Anything Goes Friday #6 Same supplies...different cards

Today's challenge is to use the same supplies but create totally different cards.

I used Ranger Distress Inks, Memento Black Ink and white embossing powder to create these two cards.
I have to admit I did add some Heidi Swapp Gold Spray Mist to give it a little sparkle.

Thursday Technique #6

I've got nothing today.

Go create a card, doesn't matter what it is is or who it's for.  Create and card and send it to someone and make their day.

Card Sketch Wednesday #6

Today's sketch is all about using up that patterned paper you've been hoarding.

I didn't vary much from the sketch on this card.  I used 3 sheets of paper from a 6x6 paper pad and layered up the paper flowers and topped them with a orange jewel flower.

Sweet and simple!

Mistletoe Monday #6

Today's Mistletoe Monday challenge is to use snowflakes on your card.

All three use embossing folders and glitter to make them special and different.
The first one with the blue snowflake is my favorite one. I used my Cricut to cut out the snowflake and some Martha Stewart glitter on blue card stock to make it sparkle.

The center one uses a glitter marker to add sparkle to the embossed snowflakes and the bottom one uses the Cricut cut with glitter on the ribbon.

Clean & Simple Sunday #6

Today's challenge is a little different.  I decided to put it on the C&S challenge because you can make these cards as simple or as elaborate as you'd like.  I choose simple.

You know how to play tic tac toe, so pick a line and create a card.

So I picked the Love you, white, flower line.

You could also interpret this line as a white card with flowers and a love sentiment.

Here's another line: Thank You, white, emboss

I used white embossing powder on a chalkboard tag with a thanks sentiment.

What will you choose?

Hope you give this one a try. It is pretty easy to create and makes a great impression on the recipient.

Anything Goes Friday #5

On Sunday, I said that if you came back later in the week I'd show you taking the clean and simple card to a new level while still making it easy to create.

I used the same inks and stencil as the Clean & Simple cards on Sunday's blog post. After the ink dried, I shifted the stencil slightly and used a marker to trace (or fill in) the circles. I used black, silver and gold markers.

I then created the tags for the sentiments. Even with these extra steps these cards were super easy and fast to create.

So take a clean and simple card and up the ante a little bit. Add a layer or an extra inking step to make your card even more special.

Thursday Technique #5 - The Bokeh Technique

Today's challenge is to create a card that uses the Bokeh Technique.  What is Bokeh?
The term comes from the Japanese word boke (暈け or ボケ), which means "blur" or "haze", or boke-aji (ボケ味), the "blur quality". The Japanese term boke is also used in the sense of a mental haze or senility.[8] The term bokashi (暈かし) is related, meaning intentional blurring or gradation.

Samples of Bokeh in Photography:

Here are three great videos, each with a different method to achieve this technique.

Here is my cards that I made while learning this cool technique.

Card Sketch Wednesday #5

Today's sketch comes from papercraftcrew.com.

Here is my take on the sketch:

For this one I followed the sketch almost exactly.

For this one I turned the orientation of the elements of the sketch.
Same supplies, same sketch....totally different cards.
