Stand Out Saturday 33-2019

3D cards are some of my favorites to make.  I have wanted to make more shaker cards and decided that would be my card for this challenge.

Sometimes the Dollar Tree can provide materials for crafting.  I had picked up a whole pack of 4 x 6 colored craft foam sheets that contained several primary colors.  I used the red to cut the outline of the apple and used two layers since they were fairly thin.  The Cricut cut it easily.  I used two cartridges for the apple since I didn't like the leaves with the apple I wanted to use.  The slice feature let me make the outline I needed for the foam and also the red paper to cover the foam and plastic cover.  The background paper is Authentique's Homestead 6 x 6 pad.  Two sized of sequins filled the inside. The paper was double sided and I used the other side of the same paper to stamp the sentiment on. It is from a Unity set called Cuddlebug Penguin. - Denise

Color Me Friday 33-2019

Our colors for this month are red, yellow, and black.  A  8 x 8 Graphic 45 pad called Home Sweet Home was out for another project and had three patterns in red and yellow that I thought would work well with one of the quilt die I used on Monday.  It is called Flower Burst by Gina Marie Designs.

I love how you can cut four papers (three patterns and one solid) and make four different cards. I back the cardstock with Scrappy Tape that is on a roll 5inches x 30 yards. I cut it to the length I need and put the sticky side on the back of the paper.  It can then run through the die cut machine (it works with both my Cuttlebug and Cricut and that allows you to peel off the back and stick the various parts directly to the card base.. The sentiments are from a stamp set called Material Girl, but I don't remember who the manufacturer was. I wish making a real quilt was this easy, lol. - Denise

Inspiration Thursday 33-2019

Inspiration came from this image.

I liked the look of writing on a chalk board and came up with this card.

I have a whole paper pack from DCWV called chalkboard which has a great texture to it.  American Craft Galaxy Markers will not only write on this type of surface, but will fit into the pen holder of the Cricut Explore.  A search on Pinterest provided the quote.   The red marker proved to be more pink than red, but it still looked good.  The black was mounted on a yellow mat and placed on a white card base. - Denise

Sketch It Wednesday 33-2019

Here is the sketch we are using for this month.

I used one of my 6 x 6 pads from my abundant collection (I may have a slight addiction of these) called Studious by Authentique to make a really quick card.

I decided to not add any sentiment to the front and used it to send a note to my granddaughter as she gets ready for the new school year. - Denise

Technique Tuesday 33-2019

Today's technique is really two in one.  It used masking and stenciling and a video showing this method can be found here.

I found that simple images work better for this technique.  I cut the A+ from a low-tack contact paper.  I purchased a roll of it from a discount store where the shelf paper is found. It works great to cut on my Cricut as temporary stencils or masks. I placed the cutout on on a white card base at an angle. It has just enough sticky to stay in place while I used a blender sponge and Fired Brick Distress Ink to go lightly around it.  Without removing the mask, the stencil is placed over the whole card front. This particular stencil is one I cut myself on the Cricut from the cartridge called Artbooking. If you use regular stencil material you can use it multiple times. The same Distress Ink was used in the center and and Mustard Seed around the edges.  The stencil and mask were then removed to reveal the white image in the middle. It was easy to do and gave a cool effect. - Denise

Mistletoe Monday 33-2019

Today we are thinking about Christmas and I used the colors for the month (well I counted gold as the yellow) and made several.

I have been wanting to try out some newer quilt dies by Gina Marie that I purchased a few months ago and decided this would be a good chance to use them.  Since I mix up different patterns just like a real quilt you end up with several cards made at the same time.  I used five pattersn and two cuts of gold for the die called FlowerBurst and three patterns along with a red foil and gold foil paper for the Building Block die.

All of the cards except for the last were done on size A2 and the bottom was a square card.  I used gold embossing for the sentiments on the black based cards.  The sentiments are from Jillian Vance designs and are called Christmas Quilt Quotes.  They work perfectly with these dies.  Jillian started designing stamps in junior high school and is from near me in Ohio  Her business of stamps and dies helped pay for her college and she graduated this past Spring. I love to support small business and card making has quite a few small businesses that hare fun to see. - Denise

Sweet & Simple Sunday 33-2019

Hi, Denise here for this week.  This month's challenges have an overall theme of school and use the colors red, yellow and black.

I made this quick card for Sweet and Simple Sunday.

The image used two stamps from the Unity set called Jen Girl.  I stamped the girl and then put a mask over her that I fussy cut from copy paper.  I then used my stamp positioner to stamp the blackboard in the proper place.  I decided she needed grounding so that it didn't look like she was just floating in space and hand drew some short lines at the bottom. I double matted using red and yellow cardstock.  I sent this to my daughter-in-law who is getting ready to start her first year as a teacher.  She will be teaching second grade and is so excited.  I am positive she will be a wonderful teacher. - Denise

Stand Out Saturday 32-2019

Hello and Happy Saturday!  Today we make a card that stands out - box, step, 3D, etc.  Today I chose to make a center pop out card.

Here is my card:

I started my card with a base cut using a Silhouette file.  I went through my stash and found a really neat vintage school paper and covered each panel on the card.  I used black and white polka dot card stock for contrast.  The image for the center pop out is a digital image from Graphics Fairy.  I printed the image on white Spectrum Noir card stock and colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.  I fussy cut the image and attached it with foam tape.  I think this is my favorite card this week!

Thanks for joining us the past two weeks!  I will see you again in September!  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 32-2019

Hello and happy Tuesday!  Today we work with another technique and this month we are playing with stencils and inks.  Here is the link to fun Jennifer McGuire technique:

and here is my card:

I started my card with a "hello" die cut placed on a white card stock panel.  I sponged over the die cut with Distress Oxide inks (Fossilized Amber and Candied Apple).  I then placed a stencil over the die cut and sponged with the inks again.  I peeled the die cut away.  I added a strip of black card stock and a yellow butterfly.  I placed it on a red card stock panel and used a white card base.  My granddaughter immediately took it for her teacher!  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 32-2019

Happy Monday!  Ready to get your merry on?  Monday is for holiday cards.  Here is my card for today:

I started my card today with a "Noel" Tonic die cut.  I used black and white snowflake card stock and cut it three times.  I die cut a stitched circle and glued the die cuts to the center with Art Glitter Glue.  I attached the circle to a black card stock card base.  I cut a small trapezoid to resemble the top of an ornament from silver mirror card stock which I scored.  I attached it to the circle with the glue.  I added some small white glitter balls with glue dots to the top and tied a gold ribbon and attached it with a glue dot.  Done!  ~  Gracie

Stand Out Saturday 31-2019

Happy Saturday!  Time to make a card that stands out - a box card, 3D, etc.  A made a step card.

I started my card by creating a step card base (measure twice, cut once ha ha - I always mess up the first time!)  I then trimmed black and white card polka dot card stock to fit each step.  I printed my sentiment "Have a Great Year!" on my computer on white card stock and trimmed it into a flag.  I added a strip of yellow polka dot card stock from my scraps.  I then went through my Scraprack and found some really cute school die cuts.  I added them to the card with foam tape.  I think it turned out very cheerful!  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 31-2019

Hello again and welcome to Inspiration Thursday!  Today we have a photo for inspiration:

And here is my card:

I used the colors from the photo for inspiration.  I started with a piece of card stock in my stash I received from an "ugly paper" swap.  I trimmed the panel and placed it on a yellow card stock base.  I found another bright green patterned card stock and cut a strip.  I printed the sentiment "Have a Monstrous Year!" on my computer and trimmed it and placed it on the green patterned card stock.  I think my youngest granddaughter will love it! ~ Gracie
