Card a Day Challenge August, Week 4, Technique Tuesday

Hi everyone,

Welcome to day 3 of Card a Day Challenge for August! The theme for this month is school related and the color scheme is yellow, black, and white. Today is Technique Tuesday, where we create a card using the technique of the month. This month's technique is Pull Tab sentiments, and my inspiration comes from a video from Jennifer McGuire's tutorial on creating these gems!

Here is my card:

This is generally not my style of card to make, but that's what I love about these challenges! It gets me out of my comfort zone to create something new and fun. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this card turned out!!! The stamp set is from Gerda Steiner Designs called Howl Are You? and the background was done using a cloud stencil and blue ink. I used my Copic markers to make the green grass and added a couple birdies in the sky. That square "dog house" was actually just a spare piece that I had set aside for a rainy day. It pays to set those things scraps aside, because this was perfect!!! The pull tab sentiment sits behind the dog and reads "Ruff day?" Haaaa! I had to hand-write an arrow to indicate it was a pull-tab because I had absolutely nothing in my stash that was small enough to use.

My 4 year old granddaughter was the inspiration for this card. I could see giving this to her on a bad day. She would love that grumpy dog's face!

I challenge you to watch Jennifer McGuire's video (you can go to her website and google "pull tab sentiments") and give this a try. It really is alot of fun once you get the technicalities of creating the pull-tab down. If I an do it, YOU can do it!
