C.A.S.E A Card Friday #39-2016

How would you C.A.S.E. this card that is perfect for all those double sided papers we have?

Here Robbie came through with this perfect card-

This is a great card to use some of all that designer series paper you have.  All supplies are Stampin’ Up.  Begin with a card base that is 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”.  Cut a piece of Emerald Envy to 4” x 5 ¼” and attach to the card base.  Cut a piece of Moroccan Designer Series paper that measures 3 ¾” x 5”.  Using the 5” side cut a slit in the center to almost the center of the paper.  Score the bottom flap from the slit to the lower right hand corner.  Score again but use the top flap and score from the slit to the upper right hand corner.  Fold on the score lines to reveal the underside of the patterned paper.  Use a glue dot on the corner to attach the corners so they stay folded back.  Attach the patterned paper to the card front.  Use the Bow Builder punch and some Delightful Dijon card stock create a bow.  Attach it to your card using glue dots.  Your Peekaboo card is ready to be sent.  - Robbie

For today's card, I liked the original design concept.  The sentiment look like it is coming out from underneath the patterned paper.  I used this as my starting point.  The sentiment is from Penny Black's Heartfelt stamp set.  I stamped it with black versafine ink onto pink card stock.  I letterpressed the patterned paper with Spellbinders Diamond Opulance Texture Plate.  I cut the triangle from the right side and adhered to the card base.  I replaced the butterfly with birds and music notes from the Lovely Notes SOA collection.- Kimberly

Technique Thursday #39-2016

Today's technique is called negative space coloring and you can see a couple of ways to do this here.  We will be doing this all month on Thursday's so let's begin with Kimberly.

Negative Space Coloring.  Super fun technique. The large leaf image is from Stampendous, inked with Versamark Ink and embossed with gold glitter embossing powder (also by Stampendous).  The substrate is a 4 inch matbpard square.  I colored the background using water based markers and a waterbrush, using fall colors.  The card base is 110lb white card stock die cut with Elizabeth Craft Dotted Scallop Square die. - Kimberly

Robbie came up with this graceful card -

I was so excited when I saw this challenge.  I had actually done this technique a while ago and never did anything with the piece.  All supplies but the Copics are Stampin’ Up.  I began by stamping the lilies from Remarkable You using Basic Gray ink – I off stamped it so it would be lighter.  I then used 3 different shades of Copic markers – R20, R21, R22 – and following the technique in the video I colored around the lilies.  I set this aside to dry really well.  I then used my Misti to stamp the lilies again with Versamark ink and embossed them with Copper embossing powder.  I mounted this image onto a piece of Copper Foil paper that was 3 3/8” x 3 5/8”.  I mounted this onto a Whisper White card stock that was cut 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼” using dimensionals.  I stamped my sentiment from the Thoughtful Branches onto a scrap of Whisper White using Peekaboo Peach ink.  I used the Decorative Label punch and punched it out using the double punch method (put the sentiment into the punch and have it close to the top; punch it; reinsert the sentiment into the punch and have the sentiment close to the bottom and punch again; this gives you a new shape similar to the punch).  I used a sponge dauber to sponged the edges of the shape to help it stand out on the card base. I cut a piece of Peekaboo Peach Ruched Ribbon and attached it to the top of the card base using glue dots.  I mounted the sentiment on top of the ribbon using dimensionals.  Love the simplicity of the card but that is has a real wow factor! - Robbie

Card Sketch Wednesday #39-2016

Today card sketch-

Robbie takes us south of the border with this festive card-

An interesting sketch for today!  All supplies are Stampin’ Up.  When I looked at the sketch I saw the 2 triangles at the top and bottom as a rectangle that was cut almost in half diagonally.  I created my card base out of Dapper Denim card stock that was cut 5 ½” x 8 ½” and scored at 4 ¼”.  I cut a card layer from Delightful Dijon at 4” x 5 ¼”.  I took a piece of the Moroccan Nights ds paper and cut a rectangle that was 3” x 4”.  I then cut it in half diagonally.  I added some Snail adhesive to the back of one of pieces and put it on my card layer.  I did not worry about matching it up exactly as I was going for the look more.  I flipped the layer over and cut off the excess paper.  I repeated with the other piece on the bottom of the layer.  I attached the layer to the card base.  I piece of Very Vanilla card stock 1 7/8” x 2 ¾”.  I used Emerald Envy ink to stamp the cactus from the Birthday Fiesta stamp set.  I mounted this piece onto a 2” x 3” piece of Dapper Denim.  I mounted this onto the card front using dimensionals.  I used a piece of 5/8” x 2 ¼” Very Vanilla to stamp the sentiment using Dapper Denim ink.  I added this to the upper left corner of the image panel using dimensionals.  I finished the card off with some Cajun Craze enamel dots.  Love this sketch with this paper!- Robbie

What a great sketch!  I changed it up to create a birthday card for a friend who loves big bold sentiments. The sentiment and dies are from the SOA Young at Heart collection.  The background paper is Lawn Fawn.  The silver glitter paper is cut with the scalloped rectangle die, the balloon die and ribbion die.  The white card stock is cut with the stitched rectangle die also included in the set.  The sentiment is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.- Kimberly
