Technique Tuesday 18-2019

Today is Technique Tuesday and the technique this month is Designer's Choice!  I chose to make a Waterfall Card and here is a link to an easy YouTube video tutorial:

And here is my card:

And with the waterfall opened:

I started the card with 2 panels of coordinating card stock, one sized 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and the second 4 x 5 1/4.  I adhered the panels together then added a band 1 x 4 1/4 about 3/4 f the way down the panel and attached it with 2 purple brads.  I created the waterfall with a strip 2 x 9 scored at 2 inches, 2 3/4, 3 1/2, and 4 1/4.  I cut 4 squares 1 1/2 from a coordinating gray paper and stamped images of butterflies from a Hampton Arts set using Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe ink.  I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers.  I attached them to 4 squares 1 5/8 from the same card stock as the waterfall panel them to white card stock 2 x 2 inches.  I adhered them to the edge of each score line and adhered the lowest panel to the 1 inch band.  I punched a hole using my Cropadile at the bottom of the back portion of the waterfall.  I stamped "With Love" sentiment using clear Versamark ink and silver embossing powder to the inside of the waterfall.  Sounds complicated but they are really easy to make!  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 18-2019

Happy Monday!!  Time to make a Christmas card and if you are keeping count we should have 17 already!

Here is my Christmas Card for today:

I love the detail on Deep Red Stamps!  I stamped my image on white card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.  I die cut the sentiment from Little B using silver card stock.  After attaching it with Art Glitter Glue I added rhinestones for embellishment (love me some bling!)  I placed the panel on a panel of silver card stock and used white card stock for the card base.  Get your Merry on and make your Mistletoe Monday card!  ~  Gracie

Sweet & Simple Sunday 18-2019

Hello & Happy Sunday!  It's Gracie here this week as your designer.  Today we start off with our Sweet & Simple Sunday card.  Our theme for the month of May is Mothers and the colors are metallics and craft paper.

Here is my Sweet & Simple Card:

I really worked hard at making my card simple!  I started with a pale lavender glitter panel.  I die cut a label from very pale lavender card stock and stamped the sentiment from Raison Boat using clear Versamark ink and Silver Whispers embossing powder.  I tied a white organza ribbon around the panel, attached the sentiment with foam tape and hot glued silver roses for embellishment. I used white card stock for my card base.  Super easy!  ~  Gracie

Scene It Saturday 16-2019

Once again it is time to make a card featuring a scene.

This fun image and sentiment are from a Unity kit called Simple Times. The artist is Phyllis Harris and I love her designs that feature kids and animals.  I used Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to color it and then a set of nested dies to cut the image and border. The paper called Hoppy Spring from Doodlebug was a perfect background. - Denise

Color Me Friday 16-2019

The challenge colors for April are pastels.

This card was done with a stamp that is a background border stamp from Unity called Flowers Aplenty.  It is my first time using one of this type of stamp and I really like it.  The image makes a wonderful board with enough empty space to put most any sentiment you would like. I used Gansai Tambi watercolors  I chose a sentiment from a Unity kit called My Sympathies and stamped it in the middle then mounted the panel on a black card base. It is always good to have some of these cards in your stash. - Denise

Inspiration Thursday 16-2019

We have an inspiration board for today.

I went with the colors to make a couple of Easter Cards.

I have a 6 x 6 paper pad from Authentique called Hope.  I love the muted blues and browns which aren't traditional Easter colors but make wonderful grown-up Easter cards.  I used different pages and used similar layouts for both cards with different dies to highlight the stamped image of the bunny.  He is from a Unity kit called Woodland Bunny and I thought it matched the vibe of the paper.  I used a brown ink which made it go perfectly with the paper. - Denise

Sketch It Wednesday 16-2019

This is our sketch for this month.

Here are two cards based on this sketch.

I have been getting a monthly SCT kit from Scrapbook and Cards today for quite a few months now.  It has different things each month including 6 x 6 papers, embellishments, stamps, etc. and is something different each month.  I grabbed a few papers from one of the months along with a couple of matching embellishments to make the cards above.  They are not my normal style, but will work for a quick thank you when I need one. - Denise.

Technique Tuesday 16-2019

The technique for today is working with Velum.  A video on various techniques by Jennifer McGuire can be found here.
Sc

I stamped an image from Unity's March 2019 KOM called Gather Love on watercolor paper with Versafine and used my watercolor markers and a wet brush to color the image.  I chose a sentiment form Unity Mrach 2017 KOM called Pretty Darn Amazing for the sentiment and stamped it with Versafine Black ink on a strip of velum.  I then put clear heat embossing on it.  Jennifer makes a good point about letting your heat gun get good and hot to prevent the velum from curling when setting the embossing powder. I used papers from a 6 x 6 pad called Quite Contrary Jack & Jill by MME for the background paper and the birds at the top.  I distressed the edges of all the pieces with Distress Ink. To attach the velum to the front, I used a narrow strip of Scrappy Tape along the entire length of the top and bottom of the strip. It seems less obvious to run it the entire length.  - Denise

Mistletoe Monday 16-2019

It that day of the week that we make a Christmas card.

I pulled out an embossing folder from Darice and ran a white card base through it.  I took three colors of Distress Oxide ink and used a blending toll to go over the various parts of the design.  Worn Lipstick for the flowers, Peeled Paint on the leaves and Broken China on the rest of the card.  Using the blending tool gives it a very loose look.  After adding the ink, I misted it with water and immediately put a paper towel on it to take off the excess water and ink. I then went back over the areas with the ink again.  The sentiment was made by using the same method on a scrap piece of paper using the pink color and stamping the sentiment with Versa Fine ink.  It was attached to the front.  It is hard to use pastel colors for Christmas. - Denise

Sweet & Simple Sunday 16-2019

Denise here for my week.  This month is flowers and pastels.

I decided to use an image from the April 2019 KOM by Unity called Have and Hold. To keep things simple I just colored the flowers and put a border around the card.  The pink and yellow flowers are colored with watercolor markers while the peachy ones were done with a chalk marker.  I did find out that the chalk markers tend to cover the lines that were in the flowers, so I ended up going over those lines with a fine black marker. The sentiment is from Unity as well (a set called Jar of Mixed Sentiments). I have now hand drawn a border a few times on cards and find I really like it on the more simple cards so that they don't look so plain. - Denise

Scene It Saturday 15-2019

Happy Saturday!  Time to make a scene!

Here is my card:

This was probably the easiest card I have made this week.  I let the card stock make the scene.  I love the coral and light teal flowers!  I trimmed the card stock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches.  I die cut five "hello" sentiments and adhered them together with glitter glue to make a stack for dimension.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday and I stamped it on white card stock with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.  After attaching it to the panel I placed the "hello" above.  I then added three white butterflies with white flat back pearls for embellishment.  I used coral pearl card stock to make a card base and added a white panel inside to place a greeting.

I hope I have given you a little inspiration to go make a card this week.  Enjoy Holy Week next week and Happy Easter!  He is Risen; He is Risen indeed!!!  ~  Gracie

Color Me Friday 15-2019

It's Color Me Friday!  Our colors this month are pastels!

Here is my card:

Back to my Technique Tuesday stamps!  I stamped the image and the sentiment on white card stock with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black Ink and heat set clear embossing powder.  I colored my flowers with shades of coral and leaves with greens using Spectrum Noir markers.  I trimmed the flower and placed it on a panel of apple green pearl card stock and tied a orange organza bow.  I made an easel card using coral card stock and adhered the lower half of the panel to the card.  I trimmed the sentiment and attached it to the inside using foam tape to make the easel.  Quick and easy!!!  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 15-2019

Hello again and Happy Thursday!  Time for a mood board!

This month's inspiration:

And my card:

I just love teal.  Today I chose to die cut some flowers and leaves from 2 shades.  I found a piece of paper in my scrap box that looks like damask to use as my panel and used a corner punch on all four corners.  I added a strip of gold mirror card stock then stamped my sentiment (unbranded) in Memento brown ink.  I attached the flowers with Art Glitter Glue and added teal flat back pearls to the center of the flowers.  I placed the panel on a light gold pearl card stock base.  I love the simplicity.  ~  Gracie

Sketch It Wednesday 15-2019

It's Wednesday and time to play with a card sketch!  I love them - I don't have to sit and think as hard about how I want to get started!

Here is this month's sketch:

And here is my card:

I had a paper pad for baby boys and found these two pretty blue card stock pages.  I Trimmed them and adhered them to make a panel.  In my Technique Tuesday stamps I found this pretty floral and sentiment.  I stamped them on white card stock and heat embossed gold embossing powder.  I colored my image with a very light blue light greens Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut the flowers.  I trimmed down the sentiment and placed it on a panel of the polka dot card stock then added another white panel to make the sentiment stand out.  I attached the flowers with Art Glitter Glue and added 2 white butterflies.  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 15-2019

It's Technique Tuesday and today we are playing with vellum!  Here is a video from Jennifer McGuire for inspiration (I could watch her YouTube channel all day)!

And here is my card:

This is one of my very favorite stamps.  I have had it for years and I don't remember the maker - I took it off the wooden block some time ago and placed it on easy foam so I could use it in my MISTI.  I stamped the image and sentiment on vellum at the same time with Versamark ink and heat set black embossing powder.  I colored the image on the reverse side using light pinks and greens Spectrum Noir markers.  I placed the panel with a strip of adhesive on the top to a light pink polka dot card stock and trimmed the panel down to 4 x 5 1/4 inches.  I tied a pink satin bow where the adhesive strip is so it doesn't show through the vellum.  I placed the panel on a light pink card stock base.  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 15-2019

Happy Monday!  It's Mistletoe Monday and if you are keeping up we should have 14 cards already!

Here is my card for today:

I know our colors are pastels but it's hard to make a pastel cardinal!  The stamp is from Gina K Designs.  I stamped the image and sentiment on white card stock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with silver metallic embossing powder (it's really thick).  I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers (I did try to make the leaves and berries pastel).  I tied a bow around a cream image and adhered the sentiment under the bow.  I fussy cut the image and adhered it with Art Glitter Glue.  I used red card stock for a card base and placed a cream panel on the inside for a greeting.  I love watching the cardinals visit the feeders outside my window!  ~  Gracie

Happy Sunday and welcome to a new card making week!  It's Gracie here again starting off with Sweet & Simple Sunday.  Our theme this month is Spring Florals and our colors are pastels.

Here is my Sweet & Simple card:

I made this one super simple!  I stamped my image and sentiment (from Technique Tuesday  Bluebells) on white card stock in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the bluebells with three shades of blue and light green Spectrum Noir markers.  I trimmed the panel down and placed it on a light green piece of card stock then added a larger mottled blue polka dot card stock panel and tied a white organza ribbon.  I adhered the panel to the same light green card stock to make a card base.  Simple!  ~  Gracie

Happy Friday!  It's Color Me Friday and our colors this month are pastels.

Here is my card:

The inside:

I started my card with a floral stamp; I have no idea where it is from - seriously.  I don't remember buying it!  I stamped it on white card stock with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black Ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I colored it with my Spectrum Noir markers (light yellow, light coral, light blue and light green.)  I placed the panel on a light green patterned paper panel the on a light green polka dot panel.  I made the card base a dutch fold card using buttercream card stock and used the first green patterned paper on the lower two panels.  I added white panels on the inside.  I went back and added a butterfly to the front and one to the upper inside panel.  I stamped a sentiment on white card stock with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is from Tuesday Morning.  I trimmed it into a flag and attached it to the middle panel.  It looks busy but it was really easy to make!  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 14-2019

It's Thursday and time for a mood board!

And here is my card:

I love mood boards!  So many ways to choose to go!  I settled for the teal and tan.  I had some paper in my scrap box from a scrapbook layout.  I love the flowers!  I tore a corner from the paper and fussy cut two of the flowers.  I also had the polka dot paper in my scrapbox.  I used a light gold pearl card stock for a card base.  I added a white panel to the inside for a greeting and finished the card with some light teal pearls.  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 14-2019

It's Technique Tuesday and time for some inspiration!  This month it's vellum!  Here is the link to the video for inspiration:

And here is my card:

I am trying to make myself create more masculine cards...  When looking through my Technique Tuesday floral stamps I ran across the cattails.  Perfect for a man!  I stamped the cattails and the sentiment (from Maymay) on vellum with Versamark ink and embossed with Pearl embossing powder.  I colored the image on the reverse side using Spectrum Noir markers (light blues, light green and tan).  I placed the velum on a mottled peach panel and adhered it with two bronze brads.  I used a light green card stock for a card base.  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 14-2019

Happy April Fool's Day!!!  No tricks here - just fun making cards!  If you are joining us doing a Christmas card a week you should be up to 13!  Hard to believe a whole quarter of the year is gone already!

Here is my Christmas Card for today:

Okay - I admit it - I was way to lazy with this card!!  My craft room was dismantled by my granddaughter last month and I am going through boxes to find things I need (trying desperately to get it all organized lol)!  I couldn't locate my poinsettia stamps so I settled for a pre-embossed silver panel from Paper Wishes.  I trimmed off the corner just to shake things up a bit and colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers ( light greens and pinks).  I fussy cut the sentiment and colored it as well and placed it on apple green card stock.  I found the pink gingham card stock in my scrap box.  I made a card base from the same apple green card stock and attached the gingham and embossed panel flat on the card and used foam tape behind the sentiment.  I added rhinestones for embellishment.  I think this is my favorite Christmas card this year!  ~  Gracie
