Mistletoe Monday #8-2016

Today's Mistletoe Monday Challenge:

Snowflakes

Can you believe it's the end of February already and LEAP day too?

Only 299 days til Christmas.

I combined Riding Hood Red and Whisper White by Stamping Up to make this Christmas turned birthday card.  I had a Christmas greeting and sentiment all set to go but changed it at the last minute, thinking about all those people who have Christmas/winter birthdays.  Using the "Harrington" font, I created the greeting on a 4" x 5 1/4" panel with rounded corners, offsetting it to the left, knowing I wanted to use the Northern Flurries embossing folder.  Alas, I realized I offset it to the wrong side if I wanted to emboss on the right...so I debossed the card front instead and I really like it.  I love it when mistakes turn successful!  I added three sizes of rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes and I added one Riding Hood Red snowflake made from a cut file purchased in the Silhouette Design Store.  That's the front, but the action is on the inside...let's take a look.  The pop-up snowflake is a cut file by Jen Adkins.  I used the same font to create the sentiment and used the Fiskars three-corner snowflake punch.

Clean and Simple Sunday #8-2016

Today's Clean and Simple Challenge is to create a

Thinking of You card.

Kim here, filling in for Theresa and I'm all alone this week on the DT. 

I hope you like the cards I've made for you this week.

I made the base of this card using a Lori Whitlock cut file purchased through the Silhouette Design Store, using Sahara Sand card stock with a mat from Color me Autumn DSP.  When I think CAS, I often go to my collection of digital images as was the case with the Sheltering Tree and Pendant Park images from Stampin' Up.  I colorized them in Photoshop Elements in a matter of 10 minutes and now they're saved should I ever wish to use them again.  I used the Print and Cut option in my Silhouette to cut the image oval and a mat from Cajun Craze, also SU.   I created the greeting using the "Always Here" font.  On the inside of the card, I continued the greeting in the same font and inserted just the corner of the bench to continue the theme inside the card.

I like making long/tall cards (to fit inside business envelopes) from time to time just to change things up a bit.  I created the card base in Silhouette by simply welding a rectangle and an oval and cut it from Bazzill card stock.  For the focal image, I used Stampin' Up digital images from the Rain or Shine set.  I easily colored them in Photoshop Elements and imported it into my Silhouette and cut it using the Print and cut feature.  With a piece of designer paper of (brand unknown), I cut a rectangle to fit inside the card on the back panel and a mat for the focal image which I made by welding a larger oval and a long rectangle to span the front.  I created the greeting using the "Dancing Script OT" font and used the same font inside.  The continuation of the greeting sits on a image from the Silhouette Design Store which I changed to print only.

LEAP Blog Hop - Inspiration Saturday #7-2016

Welcome to 

Have we got a hop challenge for you today. 

Take the letters LEAP and create any paper crafting project:

a card, a scrapbook layout, a journal page, etc. 

Here is the trick...whatever you make must use L-E-A-P in it somewhere.

For example: A lavender (L) card with embossing (E) and angled (A) with prills (P).

Get it. So who is up to the LEAP challenge.

 Throw a frog into your project and you've leaped right off the lily pad. 

Now on with the projects...

  

For this LEAP card I chose L-Lines, E-Embossing and encouragement for the sentiment, 

A-Angles, P-Purple and pearls. ~Amy

  

Well I definitely went crazy on this one!  Took me 2 days to make this card. I have no idea how many hours spent in Design Space, I kept changing my mind LOL  

L - It "Leaps" right off the paper! 

E -  Embellishments 

A -  Angled the frogs and lily pad 

P -  It is PINK!!! 

But I do have FROGS !!!!  

I used 4 different frogs from Design Space. hearts, water splashes,

 and conversation hearts on the outside with bright pink ribbon! 

My dear friend loves frogs so I decided to make this a Valentine for her.  

I need to find a good basic SVG file for this type of card so if you know of one let me know!!!  ~Anna

This challenge really required some thought!  

L is for my leaning tree.  E is for my embellished eyes (has the yellow bug eyes going on).  

A is for far away where I would like to be sitting on a beach right now instead of sitting here listening to winter storm watches.  And lastly P is for painting.  This was all done freehand so if it looks too bad just bear with me - still learning!  My frog is a Silhouette file and I typed my sentiment.  The Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor cardstock is mounted on light blue cardstock from Michaels for a base.

Lilac & Lavendar + Emboss Resist Lines  + Angled Sentiment + Perfect Pearls Mist = LEAP

Add a cute little pair of fussy cut flip flops and you've got a sweet little card to send to a friend. ~Theresa

For this card, I created LEAP with a Labrador, Embossing, Acetate, and Panels (of card stock on the acetate and for the sentiment) or a Paw.  I used Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White card stock from Stampin' Up.  I created the Subway Art Panel and the Labrador silhouette from designs purchased from Silhouette Design store and modified to suit my needs.  Then I created the "knock-out text" in red.  I coated the Labrador silhouette in Glossy Accents.  I cut a rectangle in the center front of the card.  I cut a black mat slightly smaller than the remaining area on the card front and embossed it with the Square Lattice embossing folder by Stampin' Up.  I cut a piece of Acetate slightly smaller than the black mat and attached it to the card front; attaching the mat over top.  I attached the subway art panel, centered on the acetate and placed a slightly larger panel of red on the reverse to cover all the adhesive.  Finally, I attached the sentiment inside the card. ~ Kim

I did a birthday card using the following :

L – Lemons which are in the paper of the center in each flower.

E – Embossing of the card.

A – Angles of all of the hexagons used for the flowers.

P – Pink for the background of the card and other elements.

I have always wanted to make a quilt, but this was much quicker.  The hexagons were cut on my Explore and I pieced the pattern together just like a quilt. The papers used were from a pack called Citrus Bliss by Pink Paislee.  The tag was made from a Close to my Heart Cricut Cartridge called Artiste.  The stamp goes with the cartridge and is from a set called holiday Tags. The ink on the tag is from CTMH and is Smoothie. I embossed it with a Fiskars Texture plate to make it resemble quilting. ~Denise

Anything Goes - C.A.S.E A Card Friday #7-2016

Today's C.A.S.E. A Card Friday Challenge:

I used a pre-embossed card front from the David Tutera collection. I think I picked them up at Mega Meet for $1.00 for a pack of 12!! I added ribbon and a leftover flower from a card kit.  ~Anna

I used homemade black embossing paste over a stencil to create the black and white pattern. 

I used a thin edge die to create the scallop at the bottom, added a couple of fabric flowers and some red string and a sentiment and card was complete. ~Theresa

Technique Thursday # 7-2016

Today's Technique Thursday Challenge is to 

create a box card. 

  

This card is super easy to make! ... no REALLY!!  A talented lady named Narelle who lives in the land down under has the cut file for the basic box on her web site (see link below) and she is happy to give it away.  (Please respect her angel clause)  

Once the card was made I just went into Design space and started cutting out hearts!  

Making box cards is one of my favorite things to do and I love giving them.  It is like a party in every envelope!   ~Anna

Color Challenge Tuesday #7-2016

Today's Color Challenge: 

 When I saw today's color challenge, the first thought that came to mind was Dr Seuss!! I love these colors and even have a upcoming wedding where the bride chose this shade of blue and red.  

I decided to make a kids birthday card.  I used red and blue washi tape, cut out a frame from Cricut and pop dotted it and added the greeting and chipboard cat in the hat.  ~Anna

Again today, I used the Stamp of Approval Young at Heart Collection for my stamps.

This stamp set is by CAS-ual Fridays and will be available to the public in late summer or fall. I love all the ways you can mix and match these stamps. ~ Theresa

Mistletoe Monday #7-2016

Today's Mistletoe Monday Challenge is to include 

a nativity scene on your card.

The challenge was to include the "Nativity" so I found a 3D one in Cricut. 

This took me at least 4 hrs to complete!  And I think an entire roll of skinny foam tape!! 

I plan on giving it to a friend next Christmas. 

The neat thing is I used lots of scraps to make it!   ~Anna

Clean and Simple Sunday #7-2016

Today's Clean and Simple Challenge to create a 

birthday card for a kid.

I made a teen birthday card using printed paper, I then cut out "Happy Birthday" on my cricut.  Added a birthday embellishment to the outside and inside and done!  ~ Anna

I used a new Sugar Pea stamp set from the Stamp of Approval Young at Heart Collection.

The stamps won't be available until the fall for the general public but I am loving this set.

I did a layered ink technique for the balloons and added a bit of Washi tape to the bottom.

I think a kid would enjoy it. ~ Theresa

Inspiration Saturday

Today's challenge is to take any two challenges from 2015 

and create a new card for 2016.

For my inspiration I went back to my first card for the CADC Blog on June 6th 2015. 

Then I went back even further to March 20, 2015 for my second inspiration. 

I used the side step card again and turned it into an Easter card. 

I love the chocolate bunnies and thought it would be cute to make a funny 

card for Easter.  ~Anna

When I saw Anna's card and snarky sentiment, I laughed until I snorted. 

I used my silhouette to cut out this super cute ladybug. Then I water colored the red underneath the hearts and then applied glossy accents. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and the inside is decorated with hearts from the same set. More information on my blog www.craftconfectionery.com ~Denise

Technique Thursday #6-2016

For this card I chose to use some new techniques I've learned over at StampNation with the Stencil class they are offering.

So I grabbed my masking and cut out a 3 inch circle from the center so my stenciling would pop on the white background, then asdded additional stamp layering with the sentiment and geo graphic.

Sketch Challenge Wednesday #6-2016

Today's Sketch Challenge:

For this card I decided to make a masculine card. I chose to keep the colors monotone using only Kraft and a hint of dark chocolate for contrast. I distressed this card using inking around the edges and my distress tool on the edges of the cardstock. Not totally digging this card. What would you change or add?
