Inspiration Saturday #21-2016

It's a new month and that means a new chance for inspiration,
throughout June will be working from photos each week to bring you new and fun cards.

Today's Inspiration Photo:

Let's see how the designers were inspired...

The picture prompt inspired me to make a carefree, happy card! I incorporated the flowers and bee. I thought this would be a cute birthday card since the outside says "Happy"... the inside would say, "Bee-Day" (a play on words - haha). I fussy cut the flowers from the Amy Tangerine cardstock I have and colored in the stems and leaves with a fine-tip Crayola marker. I made the bee by hand. His body is made from a 1" circle punch and the trail behind him was hand drawn using a fine-tip Sharpie marker. The sentiment at the top was also cut out from the Amy Tangerine cardstock and I added the leaves for embellishment. The background is some cloud cardstock I've had for years and was saving for the perfect project... this was it! Oh, and his cute little face was a Lawn Fawn stamp. ~Maranda
The supplies I used on this project were:
Cardstock (in colors/patterns shown)
Fiskars Paper Trimmer      Scissors
Recollections Glue Runner      Xyron Sticker Maker
Crayola Markers      Crayola Colored Pencils
Fine-Tip Sharpie      Clear Glitter Glue
1" Circle Punch      Elmer's Glue
Lawn Fawn Stamps      Acrylic Stamp Block
Momento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad      Foam Dimensional Squares

Stampin up Elements of style stamp set, Ranger markers - peeled paint,  forest Moss, wild honey, and a brown.  American crafts brand Chestnut.  Momento Brand, Rhubarb Stalk
White and olive cardstock.  I stamped the flowers twice.  I colored them both in.  On the second set I literally just colored the flowers.  I then chose some flowers to fussy cut, and pop dot up.  I also colored the humming bird with two markers, stamped it, and then fussy cut out as well.  I then popped it off the page too. ~Mindy

The bee was my inspiration.  I embossed the background with a texture plate from Fiskars called honeycomb.  The texture plates give a much more subdued look than the embossing folders do.  I wound some variegated twine around the bottom putting a piece of double-sided tape on the front to hold it in place. The stamp was from Deep Red and was stamped using Walnut Distress Ink.  I popped this layer up with some pop dots to accommodate the twine being wrapped around the piece and layered it on a dark green mat.  A couple of dark brass accents and the card was ready for any kind of sentiment on the inside. – Denise Sayers

We'd like to take a moment to thank Maranda & Mindy for being Guest Designers this week.
Stay tuned for more fun next week with two new GDT members.  We hope that a few of these
wonderful ladies, will stick around and become regular members of our Design Team.

  1. Miranda, your card is so perky, it just says "happy" even without the sentiment. Mindy, your card is very pretty and lots of fussy cutting which I am not good at, so way to go.
