Color Challenge Tuesday #23-2016

Today's Color Challenge:

There's a new rule in my craft room and that is when I'm making cards for challenges they have to also be useful to me as I now have an over abundance of cards I won't ever send to anyone.  So, I made this new home congrats card in the colors of the challenge...not the colors you would think of your a card like this, but it still works...right?  I started with a cut file by Lori Whitlock purchased in the Silhouette Store.  I looked for a DSP to work with the colors in the challenge and came across Stampin' Up's now retired Raspberry Tart, from there I pulled out Kiwi Kiss, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink and Very Vanilla (in place of the Lemon).  The roof was cut from a piece of scrap paper to match the darker color in the inspiration piece.  I added a bit of detail to the shutters and door with an Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker.  My greeting and sentiment were created using the Times New Roman font color matched to the Rose Red.  ~Kim from Katydid Cards

For my card, I used My Favorite Things Wildflowers Mix-ables Stencil and distress inks (squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, barn door, fired brick, peeled paint). I had to used some tape to cover the adjacent flowers on the stencil, to prevent adding ink, where I didn’t want it. The sentiment is from Simon Says STAMP Lots of Thanks stamp set. I matted the card front on black, to make the sentiment pop at bit more. ~ Sue

This card took a little more time than usual.  The image is one I received  in a swap so I don't  know  who to give credit for it.  I colored  it with my Spectrum  Noir  alcohol  markers.  The card base I made with an oval window ×2 instead  of  matting  the image.  I printed the sentiment  on my printer.  My mother is gone so I hope my daughter will like it :) ~ Gracie

  1. Kim, I love box cards and I know they will love how personalized it is for them. My rule is to always try and use the challenge for cards I know I am sending out. Sue, that card is lovely and you use stencils well. Gracie, I love how many cards you are coloring and doing such a great job at it. It makes me want to color more.
