Card Sketch Wednesday #21-2016

Today's Sketch Challenge:

I enjoy making cards from sketches and also enjoy making my own sketches. I liked the simple pattern of this sketch and used that for my inspiration. I also wanted to use my new 6x6 Bo Bunny cardstock from their Secret Garden Collection - so this was a perfect opportunity to do so! To embellish, I made 3D faux flowers using a series of 1" crinkled circle punches secured by a brad. I originally found this idea from Little Hot Tamale on YouTube and wanted to try it out. I love this technique for making faux flowers! So the sentiment would stand out, I mounted it on foam dimensional squares. I had lots of fun with this one!  ~Maranda
The supplies I used on this project were:
Bo Bunny 6x6 Secret Garden Collection Cardstock    Solid Pink Cardstock
Recollections Sentiment Rubber Stamp    Momento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad
1" Circle Punch      Brads
Zots Glue Dots     Recollections Paper Trimmer
Recollections Glue Runner     Foam Dimensional Squares

I did two cards for this challenge.  I did a more direct,  and then an off the grid...

1. Pool party cardstock, and stamp pad from stampin up, white cardstock, stampin up Petite Petals, and six sided sampler.  Crystal gems.
I stamped the flowers and fussy cut them out.  I glued in only the center so I could bring the petals up.  I then placed the gems in the center.

2. Deep Red Locomotive, black and white cardstock, stazon black ink pad,  stampin up triple banner punch and feeling sentimental stamp set. 1 1/2 inch square punch
I stamped out the locomotive three times, and used the square punch, to punch out in different locations. ~Mindy

I love the nautical look, so I choose to do anchors for the three elements, cutting them on the Explore using an image from the cartridge Going Places.  I also used the Explore to write the sentiment using a blue pen and a font from Artbooking cartridge and filling it in after with a Chromatix pen. The paper is from Authentique pad called Anchored. – Denise Sayers

  1. I just love how the same sketch can be so different. They are all great and I like the idea of splitting an image like the train.

  2. Ladies your sketch interpretations are all wonderful. I'm from the Jersey shore, so I'm partial to your card, Denise, and will have to CASE that. I also love that split train image and the card with the three tiny flowers is so sweet. Mindy. Miranda, I love that bold patterned paper as a backdrop for your sentiment. That's a great way to use busy patterns to liven up a card...those flowers are great, too.
