Birthday Tuesday #1-2017

Welcome to Birthday Tuesdays because you can always use more birthday cards - 

Kimberly has a wonderful card for us today-

I started with a piece of holographic card stock.  Too much fun, right?  I toned it down with grey cardstock die cut with a fun die by Richard Gray.  The tag is cut from white c/s with a CP die from the SOA Lovely Notes Collection.  The background is stamped with green inks and several flowers from the Lovely Notes Stamp Set.  The sentiment is a die cut from CP’s SOA Young at Heart Collection.  The white card base is size A2. - Kimberly

Here is my birthday card -

I used the cupcake image and a birthday sentiment from the set I am using this week called Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful by Unity Stamp Company.  After coloring the stamp with Spectrum Noir markers, I fussy cut it and popped it on some foam tape on a velum circle I cut using a punch.   The patterned papers are from a 6 x 6 pad by Crate Paper called Party Day.  The yellow circle was cut from scrap cardstock I had using the same punch and stamped with the sentiment.  I am trying to make the inside of the cards special too, so I used some scraps from the papers on the front and stamped another sentiment from the same set. - Denise

Masculine Monday #1-2017

This year our Monday's will have a Masculine theme-

Kimberly continues with her stamp set and gives us this birthday card.

I decided to go for a birthday card as it is nice to have one on hand.  Both the Scallop and Stitched die cuts are Sugar Pea Designs from CP’s SOA Box – Young at Heart.  The sentiment is Casual Friday from the same collection.  I used the leaves from the stamp set to create the background on the stitched panel. I used Green Mirror card stock for the scalloped border and sentiment.  Adhere the pieces as shown and attach to an A2 card base. - Kimberly

Here is a thank you card with a masculine feel-

I decided that the circular woodgrain background stamp would be a good start for a card.  I stamped several of the circles on a kraft card base rotating the grain as I went using a brown ink.  I then stamped the Thank You from the set on one of the circles.  I decided that it was a little plain, so I went hunting and found some old stickers that looked like nails so I placed them in the spaces between the stamps.  This would made a cute thank you for any guy in your life. - Denise

The stamp set I am using for this week is a Kit of the Month by Unity called Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful shown below.  I like how many stamps are in the kit and that they include images and plenty of sentiments which make them perfect for card making. - Denise

Clean and Simple Sunday #1-2017

Welcome to the Card A Day Challenge for 2017. The next four months gives us a twist on our challenges.  Not only will  there be daily challenges, but an overall challenge for the month.  In January all of the cards each designer makes will use the same stamp set for their week. I hope to show just how versatile some stamp sets can be and how creative the designers can get.

Let's get started with Kimberly on a clean and simple Sunday-

The card base is Neenah Solar White cardstock, die cut with Elizabeth Craft Square Scalloped die.  The sentiment panel is cut from the same c/s and die set.  I stamped the sentiment and polka dot pattern and flower with purple ink. The leaves are stamped with green ink.  The flower and leaves are die cut and layered to create a pleasing composition.  Adhere the pieces as shown and call it done.  Easy Peasy. - Kim

I had a lot of fun creating with this stamp set as it offers endless design possibilities.  The matching dies are fantastic.

I am going to try and do one card each day all month too, so here it goes for day 1-

For this card I did a lot of things that are out of my comfort zone.  I stamped two images from a Unity Stamp of the Month Kit called "Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful" from January 2014.  I recently started their Kit of the Month (first thing I have never done before in making a monthly commitment) and it allows you to buy some of the past kits, of which this is one. I used Versamark ink and then covered it with clear embossing powder and heat set it.  I blended different Distress Inks all over the card (2nd thing I don't do a lot of).  In doing this, I discovered that I needed a darker ink for the images to really pop out, so I ended up using darker colors over my original lighter ones.  Next I splattered some water drops over the ink to react with it (3rd thing).  Finally I added some enamel dots in both a random pattern and three across the bottom (4th out of the ordinary for me).  I don't use many dots and would probably have tried sequins if I had any on hand, which I didn't.  So while I am not sure I would do all of these things again, they didn't turn out too bad.- Denise
