Stand Out Saturday 50-2019

I don't think it is a secret that I adore box cards and my favorite designs come from svgcuts.com.

This nativity scene is from a group of cards called Yuletide by svgcuts.com and I cut it out of white card stock.  I decided to make it stand out a little more by using a blue Distress Ink along the edges.  I also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to add a little dimension to the panels at the bottom of the layers.  The metallic called for this month was done by going over the halos with a Perfect Medium pen and then heat embossing with gold embossing powder.  This card came together very quickly.

I want to wish all of you a Wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I have decided to step away from designing for this blog for a while, but look forward to see is done each month by others.  Gracie had some beautiful cards. - Denise

Color Me Friday 50-2019

Color me Friday is featuring white, metallic and one color.

Red was the color I chose to use along with gold embossing powder.  The border stamp is from Unity called Yuletide. The sentiment is also from Unity and is called Joyous Comfort.  It is a wonderful set designed to send to those who have lost loved ones either close to the holidays or are facing their first Christmas without a loved one.  The berries were colored with my Spectrum Noir markers and I wrapped the top with red raffia ribbon. - Denise  

Inspiration Thursday 50-2019

I love the inspiration board for this month because I adore plaid.

I used the same stack from DCWV called Christmas Plaid that I used yesterday.

One of the pages in the pack had a page of 9 panels and one of them fit this category with both plaid and metallic gold, so I mounted it on a kraft card base.  I jazzed it up by adding a lot of flat gold sequins in the white area and placing a twine bow on the picture of a bow.  Once again quick and easy - Denise

Sketch Wednesday 50-2019

Here is the sketch we are using this month

I used paper from a DCWV stack to make my card.

I fussy cut one of the panels in the stack then mounted it on another pattern from the pack and used red cardstock punched with a Martha Stewart punch for the bottom.  The cardinal was also from the pack and I fussy cut him and popped him up on a 3-D Zot.  Using my pretty papers can make a card go together quickly. - Denise

Technique Tuesday 50-2019

Our technique for this month is an ornament card and ways to do this can be found here.

I had a big snowflake die that I used to cut twice using a thick silver cardstock.  I glued those back to back so that the silver was on the front and back and looped some metallic thread through one of the openings.  Using patterned paper from Echo Park called Hello Winter, I cut a mat and a strip for the front.  I used another paper from the pack and stamped the sentiment embossing it in platinum.  I glued the strip only at the ends and slid the ornament down catching the prongs that stick out to keep it in place.  That way the ornament will slip right out to use.  Below is one I started, but it turned out so big, that I decided I would just put the greeting on the back as the card and not mount it to a card base.  Enjoy - Denise

Mistletoe Monday 50-2019

Today I have a set of cards that went together quickly.

I have a stack of sliver metallic paper that I picked up a couple of years ago and it is really shiny.  I used a couple of snowflake dies that I have along with a Lawn Fawn Merry Christmas Line Border Die to cut them out.  In place of the dot on the eye, I used a couple of the punch outs from the snow flakes.  Mounting them on a dark blue card base both horizontally and vertically made for quick cards. - Denise 

Sweet & Simple Sunday 50-2019

Hi this is Denise and this will be my last week for the Card a Day Challenge.  I have enjoyed the challenges all year.  This week is white, metallic and one color.  For today, I choose red as the color.

I took a piece of red card stock and stamped the trees from the Unity November 2019 Kit of the Month called Wonder with Versafine.  I used a sentiment I received in a Unity grab bag, so I am not sure what set it is from.  Using WOW Metallic Platinum embossing powder gave it a nice shine.  The panel was mounted on a white card base and it was done. - Denise

Stand Out Saturday 49-2019

It's Saturday!  Time to make a card that stands out, or up, or just different!

Here is my card:

I started today's card with both stamp sets and a die cut and sequins.  The front of the card is white card stock with 2 strips of white card stock sponged with blue ink.  I stamped trees with 3 different green inks.  I added silver sequin snowflakes with art glitter glue.  The card opens to a floating scene of trees and snow flakes using acetate window film cut in different lengths of 1/4 inch strips.  They are attached to 2 bases scored and scalloped back to back and sponged with blue ink.  The bases were then attached to the card base.  I stamped the "Peace" sentiment from Sum More Fun using green ink.  I added the Santa die cut using red glitter card stock.  I added some more of the snowflakes with Art Glitter Glue around the sentiment.

I can't believe this is my last card of 2019!  This year has flown by and I have had much fun making cards for you!  I wish you the Merriest Christmas and Happy Holidays!  ~  Gracie

Color Me Friday 49-2019

It's Friday and today I had fun playing with color!  Our theme this month is Holidays and the colors are white, metallic and one color of choice.  I chose red.

Here is my card:

I started today's card with a snowflake stencil (unbranded) and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink.  I sponged it liberally on white card stock and set it aside to dry.  I trimmed the panel using a stitched rectangle and cut a stitched rectangle one size larger in silver mirror card stock.  I die cut a small panel for the center of the card using white card stock and a "Noel" ornament using the silver card stock from Tonic.  I attached the ornament with Art Glitter Glue and the small panel with foam tape.  I tied a red ribbon on the red panel and added the small silver snowflake from the die cut to the center of the bow adding a rhinestone.  I placed the panels on a white card stock base using Art Glitter Glue.  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 49-2019

It's Thursday and time for a Mood Board!  Who is mad for plaid??

Here is my card:

I started my card with a journaling card with a vintage Santa.  I trimmed the card and inked the edges with Dark Walnut Distress ink.  I cut a panel of red plaid and inked the edges as well and placed the Santa on the panelwith Art Glitter Glue.  I added a strip from a mirror gold doily and a strip of black lace along the edge of the Santa.  I trimmed a second panel of red plaid card stock and placed the panel on it with Art Glitter Glue.  I then placed the panel on another panel of gold mirror card stock and attached it to a white card stock base.  I stamped "Believe" from a Raisin Boat set using clear Versamark ink and gold embossing powder.  I trimmed it and placed it on gold mirror card stock and attached it with foam tape.  ~  Gracie

Sketch Wednesday 49-2019

It's Wednesday and time for a sketch!

And here is my card:

I started my card with two pieces of striped card stock and cut them with a stitched rectangle die, cut them in half and adhered them to a white card stock base.  I added another stitched rectangle cut using mirror gold card stock and adhered it to the panel with art Glitter Glue.  I cut a stitched oval and stamped "Christmas Blessings" from W Plus 9 using Olive ink.  I adhered it to the panel with foam tape.  I added three flowers and a crepe ribbon bow using hot glue.  ~  Gracie

Paper Ornament Cards by Jennifer McGuire

Here is my card:

Today's card started with a Tonic "Merry Christmas" die cut using silver mirror card stock and double sided adhesive and cut it four times and stacked them together.  I placed them on a double panel of silver card stock (placed back to back with a red ribbon between to hang the ornament) and attached small green rhinestones on the holly leaves.  I added red tulle, glitter twigs and a poinsettia from Prima to the red ribbon with a small amount of hot glue.  I made a panel for the card using a green printed card stock from my stash and olive green card stock.  I used white card stock for the card base.  I attached the ornament by the ribbon on the back of the card using a small amount of Scotch tape.  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 49-2019

Happy Monday!  Time to make another Christmas card!  I'm working on my stash for next year!!

Here is my card:

I started today's card with a tamp from Close to my Heart and stamped it on white card stock several times with Spruce ink using my MISTI since there was so much stamped area to cover.  I trimmed it down and placed it on a panel of silver mirror card stock.  I die cut an ornament from Sizzix with a light green patterned card stock and attached a small piece of silver card stock to the top of the ornament.  I made a panel of spruce card stock and placed a white panel across it and added the stamped panel using foam tape.  I placed the ornament with a white ribbon with foam dots.  I used white card stock as my card base.  ~  Gracie

Sweet & Simple Sunday 49-2019

Hello and Happy Sunday!  I hope you are enjoying your holidays!  We are!  It's Gracie here again this week as your designer.  Our theme this month is the Holidays (your choice) and our colors are white, metallic and one other color.  Today we are doing a sweet and simple card.

Here is my card:

I started my card with a beautiful Santoro Gorjuss stamp and a sentiment stamp from Sum More Fun.  They are both stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Luxe ink on white card stock and the image was colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  I placed the image on red mirror card stock and used a white card stock base.   I added some red flat backed pearls with Art Glitter Glue.  Sweet and simply done!  ~  Gracie

Stand Out Saturday 48-2019

Happy Saturday!  Time to make a card that stands out!

Here is my card:

This is a card that looked difficult but was actually not that hard.  It is a flip tag card.  It actually lays flat and when you pull on the tag it opens to reveal another image and sentiment.  It just took a lot of thought and measurements lol!  The card started with a black tag, 2 x 5 1/2 and scored at 3 1/2 and 4 inches.  I cut a panel of gold mirror card stock and cut a slit in the middle to slide the tag through.  Once the tag was placed, I folded it on the score lines and placed the top panel at the first score line with a small strip of red line adhesive.  With the panel open, I placed the second smaller panel on the second score line with red line adhesive.  The panels were created using printed card stock and stickers.  I placed red line adhesive to the upper and lower edges of the panel and attached it to a panel of green card stock.  I added a ribbon to the tag. I placed the panel on a white card stock base.  ~  Gracie

It's Friday and time to play with color!  Our colors this month are white, metallic and one other color.  Our theme is The Holidays (your choice).

Here is my card:

I used a variety of stamp sets to make today's card.  I cut a panel of white card stock and sponged Faded Jeans Distress Ink very lightly over curved card stock to make snow drifts.  I stamped the trees from one Raisin Boat stamp set with Olive memento ink.  I stamped the sentiment from W Plus 9 with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I stamped snowflakes from Raisin Boat with Teal Memento ink. I stamped the snowman from a second Raisin Boat set on white card stock and colored him with Spectrum Noir markers.  I fussy cut the image and adhered it to the panel with foam tape.  I attached the panel to a panel of teal mirror card stock and used white card stock as my card base. ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 48-2019

It's Thursday and time for a little inspiration!

Who doesn't love plaid??  That's where my card started - a panel of red and black plaid.  I placed it on a panel of black card stock.  I had this wonderful window die cut in my stash sent to me by a friend in a shiny and flocked card stock.  I adhered it to white card stock with Art Glitter Glue and fussy cut it and placed it on the panel with foam tape.  I added the white card stock "Merry Christmas" die cut with Art Glitter Glue then placed the panel on a white card stock base.  ~  Gracie

Happy Wednesday!  Time to play with a sketch!!!

I started my card with a large scalloped die cut and stamped "Peace" for my sentiment in clear Versamark ink and used silver Whispers embossing powder.  I used stitched dies to create my panels using two different green Christmas card stock patterns and silver mirror card stock.  I placed the scalloped die cut with foam tape and hot glued Prima flowers and flat backed pearls.  I placed the panel on a green card stock card base.  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 48-2019

It's Tuesday and time for another technique!  Today we are making a Paper Ornament card and here is the video for inspiration:

Here is my card:

This technique is so super easy!  I die cut my nativity scene (not sure of the brand) six times - five from gold mirror card stock and one from black card stock.  I placed it on double sided adhesive before die cutting and then stacked them together and placed them on the reverse side of gold mirror card stock (so my ornament would be finished on the back) placing a strip of crepe ribbon between the die cuts and the back.  I in-laid the black from the black die cut.  I added a rhinestone to the star above Mary and hot glued a poinsettia from Prima with a crepe ribbon bow at the top.  I made a panel of green card stock with Merry Christmas and placed it on a panel of gold mirror card stock.  I attached the panel to a top fold white card stock base and folded the ribbon over the back and attached it with a small piece of Scotch tape.  ~  Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 48-2019

Oh, the weather outside is frightful!  Happy Holidays everyone!!!  Today is Mistletoe Monday and I created a Christmas card.  Our colors this month are white, metallic and one other color.  Today I went non-traditional and chose pink!

Here is my card:

I die cut a simple wreath (unbranded) six times with gold mirror card stock with double sided adhesive attached then adhered them all together and placed them on a panel of light pink card stock.  I added the "Merry Christmas" die cut sentiment with Art Glitter Glue.  I made a bow of bright pink ribbon and adhered it with hot glue.  I added light pink rhinestones over the wreath.  I placed the panel on a white card stock base.  ~  Gracie

Sweet & Simple Sunday 48-2019

Hello and Happy December!!  It's Gracie here this week as your designer.  Today we start with a sweet and simple card:

I really, really tried to go simple!  I used a card stack from DCWV and gold mirror card stock to create my panels.  I added a strip of the gold card stock to the lower portion and attached some green glitter netting with hot glue.  The sentiment is a die cut and I attached it with hot glue as well.  I attached the panel to a white card stock base with Art Glitter Glue.  There ya' go - sweet and simple!  ~  Gracie
