Sweet & Simple Sunday 14-2019

Hello and Happy Sunday!  It's Gracie here this week and we start off today with Sweet and Simple Sunday.  Our theme this month is flowers and our colors are pastels.

Here is my Sweet & Simple Card:

Flowers!!  So many choices!  Today I chose a Tuesday Morning stamp and stamped with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is from Maymay.  I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers (lavenders and greens).  I trimmed the flower down and placed it on a lavender panel and wrapped a pink satin ribbon and tied a bow.  I went through my scrap box and found a lovely lavender plaid paper to use as a panel and offset the flower.  I trimmed the sentiment down and mounted it on lavender card stock as well and attached it to the panel with foam tape.  I used the same lavender card stock to create a card base.  I added a white panel inside to place a greeting.  Quick and simple!  ~  Gracie

Scene It Saturday 12-2019

Happy National Puppy Day!

When I found out it was National Puppy Day, I knew I had to send a card to my daughter who recently adopted her first puppy since leaving the nest.  The image is a Unity stamp called Today With You.  It is a stamp by artist Phyllis Harris who does drawings for Highlights magazine too.  I love how her stamps capture children and animals. I used Arteza watercolor real brush markers along with a plain wet brush to color the image.  I just purchased some Canson XL Mixed Media Heavyweight fine texture paper and it really made a difference in being able to color this image. I mounted it on a gingham paper and matted that with solid green. I decided it didn't need a sentiment on the front. - Denise

Color Me Friday 12-1019

This month's colors are green, black, and gold or silver plaid.

For this card, I made my own background using an Echo Park stamp called Christmas Plaid and stamped on my white card base with a green pigment ink. I should have heat set it since I ended up smearing it a bit.  I pulled out gold washi tape and covered the smeared part of the top card. The stamped image comes from a Kit of the Month by Unity called Let Love Grow (Feb 2013).  I stamped the basket in a brown Distress Ind.  The shamrock vine is one branch, so I stamped it up in the same pigment ink and stamped one over the side of the basket.  I decided it needed more, so I masked the basket off and stamped the branch a few more times in various places on top of the basket. I highlighted it with some flat gold sequins. - Denise

Inspiration Thursday 12-2019

Thursday means that we have an inspiration board and this is the one for March

I had a collection from MME called Cut and Paste that had both paper and ephemera.  There was paper that reminded me of the floral and the chevron, so I made a very quick card using two of the papers along with some of the chipboard stickers in the same pack.

These kits can make a very quick card when you need one. - Denise

Sketch Wednesday 12-2019

This is the sketch we are working with this month.

Here are the cards using the colors for this month.

I took green card stock and masked off the bottom with purple craft tape.  I love this tape because it won't damage the paper you put it on and comes off cleanly.  I then took a couple of stamps from Unity's stamp kit called Heart Flutter.  It is a Gina K design. I stamped them varying the levels and angles on both cards using Versamark.  I used gold embossing powder and heat embossed them.  I cut a strip of black cardstock and stamped the sentiment (from Jar of Mixed Sentiments by Unity and heat embossed that too.  I used a black mat and put it all on a kraft card base. - Denise.

Technique Tuesday 12-2019

The technique this month is a double Z fold card.  A nice tutorial by Jennifer McGuire can be found here.

This is a fun and quick technique that makes a card with an impact.  I used a double sided green card stock for the two base pieces.  The other papers came from a 6 x 6 Authentique paper pad called Charmed.  I used a nested die set for the gingham paper on the front.  To dress it up a little bit, I added some gold flat sequins on the front and used gold liquid pearls in the pot of gold. -- Denise

Mistletoe Monday 12-2019

Today is Mistletoe Monday using this months challenge colors of green, black and gold and plaid.

I looked through my stash and found this plaid paper.  I chose an image from the Cricut cartridge Anna's Christmas Kitsch The bows were cut with gold vinyl.  The sentiment is from Unity's Cheery Christmas as embossed with gold embossing powder.  I decided it looked a little plain, so I added gold and green sequins in various sizes. - Denise

Sweet & Simple Sunday 12-2019

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I am starting this week out with this trio of cards.

I started by stamping this shamrock and sentiment from Unity's February 2019  KOM called Ridiculously Amazing with Versamark. Using a stamp positioning platform like a Misti makes it very easy to make multiple cards in a short amount of time.  I did put on the gold embossing powder after each card was stamped before stamping the next one, but did the actual heat embossing for all of them at the same time.  I had fun experimenting with different ways to finish them.  On the green cardstock card, I took the Versmark ink pad and swiped at the edges of the card, then added the gold embossing powder to that.  The bottom card was done by blending various green Distress Oxide inks and swiping over that with a wet paper towel. For the top right one, I used a Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist called Money Bags.  There is a close up below of just how great this looks. It has gold highlights in the green.

Try making multiples of an embossed image then play around with different techniques, it is fun. - Denise

Scene It Saturday 11-2019

It's Saturday and time to create a scene using stamps, paper, stickers, die cuts, etc.  Today I chose to make a St. Patrick's Day card with some cute stickers I found at the Dollar Tree (and I am NOT a fan of stickers).

Here is my card:

I started my card looking trough my green pile of paper again (I can't wait to get everything organized again - it's driving me crazy!)  I found a green tweed paper and a green plaid paper.  I made a panel from the tweed and added the cute little leprechauns, the pot of gold and the shamrocks.  I made an easel card with dark green card stock and attached the green plaid to the front  then the green tweed panel to the lower half to make the easel.  I took a strip of the green tweed and stamped "good luck" (an unbranded stamp) using clear Versamark ink and gold mirror embossing powder.  I attached it to a strip of the plaid using foam tape and added a shamrock on each side.  I then attached the sentiment to the inside of the card using foam tape to hold the easel up.

Happy St. Patty's Day, y'all!!  I will see you next month!  ~ Gracie

Color Me Friday 11-1019

It's Friday!  Time to play with our colors and they are green and gold or black and silver.

Here is my card:

I have played with greens all week!  Not changing now!  I started my card with a wonderful stamp set from Concord and 9th.  I stamped the ice cream and sentiments on white card stock with black Memento ink.  I colored the ice cream (if I could eat ice cream it would be mint chocolate chip!) and bowl with my Spectrum Noir Markers.  I fussy cut the ice cream.  After I cut it I didn't like it without a border so I attached it to white card stock and fussy cut a second time.  I used a bluish green heart plaid paper as a panel and placed it on a second plaid panel with the same colors.    I attached the ice cream and sentiment with foam tape.  I used a black Wink of Stella pen to give the sentiment a little hint of gold shimmer.  I used a teal green as a card base.  The second sentiment was placed inside and is "Happy Birthday!"  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 11-2019

Hello again and Happy Thursday!  Today we will be using a mood board for inspiration!

Here is the Mood Board:

And here is my card:

Today I chose to use the colors found at the right hand corner of the board.  While searching through my stack of green paper I found this lovely floral paper that is embossed with gold!  The flowers were the perfect colors also!  I trimmed out a panel and searched the green stack again for a color that would coordinate.  I backed the panel with the second color and used the second color to stamp my sentiment using clear Versamark ink and gold mirror embossing powder.  I placed the sentiment on a panel of gold mirror card stock.  I found a butterfly in my stash but it was a light shade of blue so I "fixed" it lol.  I colored dark green with my Spectrum Noir marker and gave it a spritz with pearl shimmer.  I used a light green for the card base. Easy peasey!  ~  Gracie

Sketch Wednesday 11-2019

Yay!  It's Wednesday!  Halfway through the week and a card sketch for inspiration!

Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

With everything blooming, I couldn't resist using daffodils!  I started my card with two stamp sets - the daffodils are from Altenew and the daisies are from Raisin Boat.  I stamped the images on white card stock with black Memento ink and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers.  I fussy cut the flowers and leaves.  I found a pretty green checked paper (I am seriously running out of plaid!) and adhered the flowers to a panel of the paper.  I found I light green polka dot paper and mounted the panel onto it.  I used a strip of the same to stamp my sentiment "love and prayers" with black Memento ink.  I added a paper bow with a rhinestone in the center.  I placed the panels on a green card stock base.  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 11-2019

Hello again!  It's Technique Tuesday and we have a Jennifer McGuire video for inspiration:

And here is my card:

The inside panel:

I had fun making today's card!  I found the green plaid card stock in my "green" pile.  After trimming and scoring it, I used a stamp set I received from a friend to stamp the three parts of the panel.  I put the wreath on the front, the feathers and arrow on the middle, and the sentiment on the back.  I then punched out mirror gold card stock hearts and adhered them with Art Glitter Glue to all three parts of the panel.  I cut and scored the card base using a light green.  I adhered the "z" with red-lined double-sided adhesive.  I also added acrylic photo corners.  I think this is my favorite card this week and I am going to hide it in my husband's luggage!  :)  ~ Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 11-2019

Hello and Happy Mistletoe Monday!  If you are keeping up you have made at least 11 Christmas cards so far this year!!!  Good for you!!!

Here is my card for today:

I searched through my stacks to find paper that would go with green and gold or black and silver.  I found a little of both.  I also found a beautiful Christmas wreath from Jolee's Boutique in my Scraprack.  I placed the wreath on the red and green plaid card stock panel and hot glued a gold ribbon to the top and added the gold star that came with the wreath sticker set (I have had it a very long time).  I found a dark green Creative Memories sticker sentiment and placed it on the bottom of the panel.  I then placed the panel on a black, green and red plaid panel.  I used black card stock as a card base.  Would love to see yours! ~ Gracie

Sweet & Simple Sunday 11-2019

Hello again and Happy Sunday!  It's Gracie here as your designer this week.  Wow, the buds are bursting out all over in Mississippi!  Spring is coming soon but not soon enough!  My peach tree budded out then the temps dropped back into the 20's so I won't have any peaches this year.  :(

It's Sweet and Simple Sunday!  Out theme this month is "All Things Plaid" and our colors are green and gold or black and silver.

Here is my card for today:

I started my card today with a stamp from Some Odd Girl.  I stamped the image on white card stock and colored her with Spectrum Noir markers then fussy cut her.  I am still attempting to organize my mounds of crafts materials thanks to my granddaughter.  I spent quite some time trying to find plaid paper - especially plaid paper I did not use last week!  I cut 2 panels of plaid card stock with greens and golds.  I searched through my Scraprack and found this cute heart die cut and attached it to the top of the panels.  I stamped "Missing You", which is part of the stamp set, on the same card stock as the second panel using clear Versamark ink and mirror gold heat embossing powder.  I placed the first panel on white card stock then layered it on the second plaid panel.  I used white card stock as a card base.  Let's have fun this week!  Dig out your plaid paper!  ~ Gracie

Scene It Saturday 10-2019

Time to make a scene!!!  Bust out the stamps or the die cuts or let your paper make a scene!

Here is my card:

Well, this card is certainly a hodge podge of stamp sets!  I started my card with a light green plaid piece of paper.  I used a Stampin' Up set with trees and lightly stamped them onto the paper in different shades of green stamping off before stamping.  The little hills are also Stampin' Up stamped with cocoa ink.  I added dots of snow to the trees and to the hills with a white gel pen.  The elk is from Raisin Boat and is stamped in black Memento ink and colored with several shades of brown Spectrum Noir Markers.  The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from Tim Holtz and is stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I tied a bit of twine in a knot around the panel and attached the panel to gold mirror card stock and used a light green for a card base.

I had fun playing this week!  Hope you have, too!  See you next week also! ~ Gracie

Color Me Friday 10-2019

It's Color Me Friday!  Our colors this month are black and silver or green and gold.

Here are my cards:

I was feeling rather industrious!

The first card I made using a Stampin' Up set stamping directly on green plaid paper with Versamark ink and gold embossing powder.  I colored the lady's dress and hat with a gold Spectrum Noir Marker.  I tied a gold ribbon around the paper and attached the panel to a darker green plain panel and used a white card stock base.

The next two cards I made using a stamp set given to me from a wonderful secret sister, Theresa!  I made two because I wanted one for a man and one for a woman.

On the man's card I stamped the images with Versamark ink and used gold embossing powder.  I colored in the spoon, the cup, and the coffee with a brown Spectrum Noir marker.  I trimmed the panel down to 5 x 3 3/4 inches and placed it on a panel of corrugated card stock 5 1/4 x 4 inches then on a panel 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and I used brown card stock as a card base.

On the woman's card I stamped the panel the same way on green plaid and used a green Spectrum Noir marker to color the spoon and cup and brown to color the coffee and a tan to color the cream.  I placed the panel on a gold mirror card stock panel and used a green card stock to make a card base.  I added some green sequins for accent.  ~  Gracie

Inspiration Thursday 10-2019

It's Thursday and that means we have inspiration from a mood board!

So many pretty patterns and colors to choose from!!!
Here is my card:

I loved the flower pattern in the middle.  I searched through my stacks of 6X6 paper pads and found this lovely paper with colors near to the board.  It was so busy I didn't want to add a lot so I die cut 2 butterflies (I think they are Sizzix) and the "happy birthday" sentiment (from Little B) using gold mirror card stock. I placed the panel on gold mirror card stock and adhered it with foam tape.  The butterflies are also adhered with foam tape.  I chose the teal from the colors on the bottom of the board as a card base. ~ Gracie

Sketch It Wednesday 10-2019

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  Today we have a sketch to use as inspiration!

And here is my take on the sketch:

While searching through my card stock I found this pretty olive green pattern.  Instead of stamping on the paper I chose to die cut balloons with gold mirror card stock.  I placed the green paper on a panel of the gold mirror card stock and used olive green card stock for a card base.  I added a strip of black card stock stamped with "Hey You" with gold embossing powder and attached it with foam dots.  I added the "Happy Birthday" in the corner with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  The sentiments are from Simon Says.  The balloon is unbranded.  I think this will work well for a man!  ~  Gracie

Technique Tuesday 10-2018

It's Technique Tuesday and time to make something fun!  Today we have more inspiration from Jennifer McGuire!

I just love her videos!!!
Here is my card:

I started the card with the inner white panel.  I used an Art Impressions stamp set to create the bird house and flowers on the front, middle and upper part of the back of the panel.  I used watercolor pencils to add a few lines of color and used quite a bit of water to soften the colors.  I used a green plaid paper on a light pink card stock to make the card base.  I am unsure of the source of the sentiment.  I love the golds and greens in the watercolors! ~ Gracie

Mistletoe Monday 10-2019

Happy Monday!  Time to make your Christmas card!  Our theme is "All Things Plaid"  and our colors are :green and gold" or black and silver".  I decided to make 2 cards today.

Here is the first card:

I am unsure where the pretty gold Christmas tree came from but it may be Anna Griffin.  I decided to make my card very simple and placed the tree on gold mirror card stock.  I tied a simple white ribbon around the panel then matted it with dark green plaid paper.  I used white card stock for a card base.

Here is the second card:

When digging through my stacks of paper (thanks to my granddaughter) I found this lovely black plaid.  I had a package of silver Christmas Stickles with a lovely silver sleigh.  I placed the sleigh on black card stock and fussy cut it.  I added a red ribbon to the black plaid baper and placed the sleigh on the panel with foam dots.  The "Holly Jolly" sentiment is also Stickles and I stacked three together for dimension.  I used black card stock as a card base.

These were so easy to make and I loved how they turned out! ~ Gracie

Clean & Simple Sunday 10-2018

Hello and Happy March!!!  It's Gracie here this week.  Our theme for March is "All Things Plaid" and our colors are green and gold or black and silver.

Here is today's card:

and the inside top:

I have a confession to make.  My granddaughter has claimed rights to my craft room.  EVERYTHING is now in boxes, cubes, or piles in the living room and dining room as I try to figure out how to make my dining room  both my craft room and still be functional as my dining room.  In other words, it's a disaster!  I am having trouble just finding adhesive refills for my ATG!  So making anything right now is just simply an adventure!!!

Luckily, my stamps were all ready organized so I found this wonderful Art Impressions stamp set in my stash.  Hunting up plaid paper, on the other hand, is a challenge!  I stamped the image on white card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder (thankfully those supplies are in one of my Totally Tiffany Desk Mates!)  I fussy cut her out after coloring her with Spectrum Noir markers.  I placed her on green plaid paper with a strip of gold and green coordinating paper and used white card stock for the card base.

The "It's Party Time" sentiment is from graphics45 and on the inside bottom I used the sentiment "It's not going to eat itself, you know" from the Art Impressions stamp set.

It was relaxing just to get to make something!! ~ Gracie

Scene it Saturday 9-2019

WOW! That was fast. My week as the designer here at Card a Day Challenge is now over. I hope that I've been able to inspire you to make a card or two!

The theme for February is love and the color scheme is red, pink and white.  For Scene it Saturday, the theme is to create a scene card.

I decided to create an ocean scene. I started with Hero Arts Mermaid Sea Waves Stencil and added color with distress inks (salty ocean, peacock feathers, cracked pistachio and faded jeans) using ink daubers. I trimmed down the panel to 3”x4” and matted it with teal cardstock. For the fish, I stamped them using The Alley Way Stamps’ Sea Mates stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I added color, using this month’s color scheme, with Copic Markers RV23, RV29, R22, R35. I fussy cut the fish. The sentiment, from the same stamp set, was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next time.

Color Me Friday 9-2019

My week as the designer here at Card A Day Challenge is almost over.

The theme for February is love and the color scheme is red, pink and white. The challenge for Color Me Friday is to use this month’s color scheme.

I stamped using Stampin’ Up’s Wondrous Wreath with Hero Arts Bubble Gum and Red Royal inks onto a white A2 card panel. The sentiment, stamped with the Bubble Gum ink uses a stamp from Simon Says STAMP’s Handwritten Sentiments stamp set. I trimmed the panel slightly to mat it with a bright pink cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by
