Scene It Saturday 6-02

Hi everyone!

Today's theme is Scene It Saturday, creating a scene card.  Scene cards are VERY scary for me.  It just doesn't come naturally to me.  I've seen some stunning scene cards and I admire the heck out of the people that create them.  What talent! But, I must get out of my comfort zone and give new techniques a try.  So, without further ado, here is my creation:

I chose a stamp from The Stampin Place and decided to watercolor it. Watercoloring is also challenging for me, so this was probably the hardest card of this week! I would not say I'm thrilled with it, but I am proud of myself for trying this technique.  I used Arches Cold Press watercolor paper and my Kuretake watercolors to create the sky and grassy area. I also watercolored the house (or is it a barn???). To make the scene a little more realistic (I didn't want everything to be in one shade), I added white clouds in the sky and brown patches in the grass and a little walking path coming from the front door of the house/barn. After that dried, I stamped the trees and animals with black archival ink, and then added some green watercolor to the trees. After this was done, I decided to make the card look like a framed piece of art. So I added the white matting and gold frame over the painting. I placed the "Love Each Other" sentiment on the bottom and added a teeny tiny bit of gold drops to either side of the sentiment to make it look like it was nailed into the frame.

So, there you have it! I may practice more often with scenes, but they challenge my brain! There are many u-tube videos that show this technique as well as companies like The Stampin Place that sell scene stamps. Start easy and move forward from there! Show me your work!!!

Thanks for joining me this week!
